Beautiful historic Ayrshire golfing hotel destroyed by far.
Very sad to see.
Fortunately no casualties as it was being refurbished and had been closed for quite a few years.

Reports are saying it’s derelict but the owner was planning to develop it - hope it’s nothing sinister

I think Doon frae Troon will know , he use to manage the courses in that area

Council do not own it, they sold it for £1 to a developer.
Complicated situation as council were in dispute with developer over planning rules.
Interesting timing though, that's all I am saying.

Looks totally unsafe and I would be very surprised if it is not demolished.

Alot of people are very sceptical over this, shame as it was/could have been a stunning building

Be interesting to see if any insurance money goes towards rebuilding or the site remains burnt out.

Are the Bellisle and Seafield courses still open, both James Braid designed i think , surely they must be protected ??

Yes both courses are still open and doing well, they just built a new clubhouse a few years back so no concerns there

When I played a few years ago there, had the best greens I had ever putted on.

Played Bellisle a couple of years ago, brilliant course which would put a lot of member courses to shame.
