Mate of mine went there last week and paid £50 to be fitted for Driver, 3w&5w, 4-pw and two wedges, and he really enjoyed the whole process. However, they have quoted him quite high for his clubs (Callaway Hazr Hawks) which I have shopped around and can get for nearly £200 less, but the Belfry wont release the details of the clubs that he was fitted for i.e. shaft type etc!! I think that this is wrong as he has paid for these details, if the fitting session was free then I can see the logic but I think that they are wrong here.

Thoughts?

Usually standard by a lot of companies to not tell you what spec suited you best. Although you say you have looked online and found prices for clubs but he doesnt know the exact spec that was best for him. eg the shafts he liked best could be an upgrade

I'm surprised at that.

Normally, they knock the cost of the fitting off the price of the clubs or you pay for the fitting and they give you the specs.

I'd kick off if I were him. He paid for a fitting session and has the right to the results.

Indeed. I'd asked what exactly I've paid my £50 for?

If he wanted to be a real pain in the rear end, he could could demand to be sent a copy of the info under the terms of the Data Protection Act, assuming his info is stored digitally somewhere. Would like to think they'd hand it over before it got to that though!

Terrible practice to be like that. And bad PR on a site like this. It's like an optician refusing to hand over your prescription details after an eye test. Your personal info, so they have no right to withold it legally.

My thoughts exactly ;)

Agreed.

I was fitted there and walked away with the specs.

I think he made a mistake by leaving without them, although he should be entitled to know what they were imo.

Agree with consensus. It is a service he has paid for and The Belfry is in breach of the contract. It is also a nonsense to expect someone to order a custom fitted set without knowing what they are ordering. They are also getting some bad publicity for doing so.

He should call and demand either the specs or his money back.

I had no problem getting the specs for the driver I was fitted for there. In fact the fitter encouraged me to shop around as they sell everything at RRP

Same here.
