Never done it but a slug of sloe gin on a winter morning is OK by me!
No difference what so ever. You are drinking whilst playing golf, maybe this is how you justify it because you can't turn alcohol down when offered to you.
Pathetic. If your looking to bait someone dangle your little maggot elsewhere.
Im always driving, so I will have a pint of lager shandy at the 19th and thats that.
If I wasnt driving then I cant see the problem with a couple of tinnies, but anyone who drinks lots of alcohol every time they go out probably has an issue that needs sorting.
Theres a lad at our course who goes through bottles of Becks at rate I have never seen before!! Its not uncommon to see empty bottles of Becks scattered about in the rough and the bushes! He isn't a great golfer by any means....but always has a smile on his face!!
I have only had a beer once whilst playing and that was on Captains day this year at the halfway hut, it was nice.....but just made me need a pee the whole way round![]()
I he is nuts him always red faced!!!!
I think the effect it has depends on your expectations.Drinking beer and trying to play golf perfectly illustrates why Drink Driving should be zero tolerance and 0mg
I have tried a few times, with 1 or 2 and it impacts your
game, tried once with 4 or 5 pints in me, walked off after 2, it was impossible
Time and place for everything. I've had a few beers on the course during Corporate days. Also on Presidents' Day they have a beer table near the 9th tee. Everyone stops for a few drinks and a chinwag with the ladies. Wouldn't do it during a comp though.
Totally agree. When me and my mates go away for a weekend golf break a few alcoholic drinks are taken on the Saturday during the round. We don't walk round supping from cans of Special brew as we are bit more subtle than that, and none of us has so much that you can't play. But I don't see a problem if someone wants to do it and they are not overly advertising the fact they are drinking. A few sips from a hip flask whilst you are waiting around or even sharing round a can on the tee is OK to me if that's what you want to do.
I also stayed at a place that had it's own 6 hole golf course in Cornwall and in the evening I could get round in an hour or so on my own. And I usually took a bottle of finest chilled Pinot Gris round with me in my bag, very pleasant on a long summers evening to have a glass or two out in the course.
But for the vast majority of the time I play I never bother as I'm usually driving and I don't overly have the urge to be honest.
There's a big difference IMO beteeen buying a single beer if available on the buggy on a hot summers day or grabbing 1 from the halfway house and consuming it there and then and carrying a few tins and drinking them whilst walking around!
