BEATS BY DR DRE Headphones

Not to sure what you mean by open or closed back, Bluetooth or wired is fine, its really to use on the i Pod when walking the dog and also for some fitness, def can not be the bud ones .

Meze might be overkill then

These are worth a look though. Ok they'll not be the most defined audio in the world but should meet your needs if it isn't intense fitness. If maybe more active stuff like running the Jabra sports a good, in ear but aren't buds so more comfortable. I don't use them but my brother has a pair for the gym and swears by them

I've a set of AKG Y50s in yellow, currently £50. Very smart looking imho. Compatible with iPod with one button control on the cable. They do a bluetooth version, but this more expensive.

There are many others in the AKG range to suit budget and are very highly rated.

I have a set of open back sennheisers that I use for running. Being open back, means I can still here the traffic, or here bikes coming up defined me, etc.

With my closed sennheiser momentums on, I can't hear squat. I'm in my bubble.

I don't listen to music very often but I use headphones to watch films on my tablet, sport on a portable DAB radio. I bought a pair of Bose OE2 headphones and they great. Wonderfully clear, blocks out lots of external noise without being noise cancelling. I don't know how they sound for music to proper muso's but I recommend them. Perfectly allowable to wear Bose as you get older without looking like a total grandad as well.

I wouldn't say they are rubbish. Overpriced yes and better can be had for the money, but the sound quality is far from rubbish, and if you are looking for a bass emphasis is pretty decent. That said, I wouldn't buy them. My missus has a pair and my Senheiser momentums and Grado's are both better.

The Grado's would be no good for you as they are open back and therefore only really for in home listening. Senheiser momentum, either on head or in ear are excellent though, and cheaper than the Beats.

Sticking in a vote for Bose products. Got their entry level in ear buds. Sound quality is brilliant and so comfy to wear. Also used other Bose products over the year.

There's a running joke among audiophiles that Bose stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment. For standard home user I've found their gear is very good and becoming more reasonably prices as competition has increased. Used to be very overpriced.

I have the Y50BT Bluetooth in Blue. £125 from Superfi, great quality in both the build and the drivers.

lol :) Thing is, I'm not an audiophile, but I do like music that sounds half decent and Bose meets my quality/price ratio nicely :)

Beats by Dr Dre = style over substance. Never read any good reviews about them. I use Sennheiser and even my teenage children ask for them now. Save wasting a lot of money too.
