Ball Quality

How important do we think a good quality golf ball is to our game or is it a con about some balls being better than others.

99.9% sure the quality of all recognised brand balls is consistent. It's the makeup of them that differs. And the makeup that suits different players differs, sometimes for characteristics, sometimes feel.

A Pro mate, apparently successfully, used Wilson Ultras once to take certain hazards out of play/allow 'better' clubbing options!

One of my best ever medal rounds was with a Top Flite

me too - but don't tell any one....

for completness, really tight course with soft conditions and slow greens.....the ball took no spin with the irons off the tee and anything would have gone in the hole if hit hard enough on a straight line. Today;s equivilent would be an e6 and I have them available.

Personally I think it may make a small difference, not a lot, but a small bit. I reckon it makes a bigger diff the lower your handicap. If you have a Sh1t3 swing ball type ain't gonna matter one jot.

I would love to see a clip of a machine swinging a club using different balls to compare.

Mine was on firm fairways and greens, ball took two bounces then pulled up on the greens. A well struck ball will get decent backspin no matter who makes it.

Honestly I doubt it Nick, there's so much backspin out there at the moment I even sucked back the Nike with a 6 iron....

But I read somewhere that you have hypothetically slopey greens past the flag, so I'll take that claim with a pinch of salt :D
