The defensive performance of Spurs today, smacks of the first few months of his Chelsea reign.

He obviously likes defending a very high line (too high). I know that lots of teams like to get after the other teams when the centre halves/full backs get the ball, but not your own centre halves being that high.

I lost count of the number of times that an LFC midfielder broke their last defensive line, and whilst travelling at pace. It's suicidal defending. Especially when they had no-one playing a DM role after sandro went off.

I have wanted this clueless boy manager out of my club for weeks

People point to his record at Porto, but so what, an ape could manage porto to the title.

Sadly I cant see us sacking him as it would cost money, and ENIC do not spend money

Good evening Jon good to see your alive after today's thumping

Defending a high line wasn't the problem by itself. But you cannot do it without pressure on the ball in midfield and Spurs are totally pedestrian in there.

Although I seem to remember when Rogers first took over, he had a string of bad results and was under pressure for a while.

phrases like "selective amnesia" spring to mind :)

However, ill be the first to agree that you cant argue with success

Wasnt under pressure from me - and I think most Liverpool fans - maybe from the media though - which is half the problem these days. They pile more pressure onto managers than anyone.

A second massive loss of the season with a lot of foreign prima donner team and a no patience chairman. Writing was on the wall. Loosing 5-0 on you home turf to an average Liverpool team is v poor. No surprise in the PL that if you don't deliver quickly then your toast. :( Its a shame but accepted. To be honest the contracts these managers secure it isnt going to put him on the rock and roll but it does cost the club. Spurs were a pleasure to watch last season at times and this season they look like a Sunday league team. Shocking.

Ive just come back from a celebratory pub lunch and a few pints.

AVB played negative, dull, low-tempo football in a high tempo league
AVB played a penalty-box striker of good record on his own with no service
AVB played Inverted wingers, which never work
AVB slated the fans for daring to criticise disgraceful, inept dross against the might of Hull.
AVB witnesses Lamela & Chiriches turn in MOTM performances, then drops them
AVB sends BAE out on loan, then doesnt replace him and relies upon rubbish like Naughton
AVB plays Dawson, effectively handing any decent opposition a head-start
AVB has no plan B, when things arent working, there is only a like-for-like sub, and no tactical deviation

Bottom line, he was not the man for the job. The question now however, is who?

AvB gets you into Europe and challenging for trophies and CL places

It was always going to take a while for new players to settle

Now who comes in and how long he is given before the daggers are out.

I voted no too.
Picked these gems of info from the BBC report......
1. Spurs are currently 8 points off the top with 16 games gone.
2. AVB win % is 55% and better than any Tottenham manager in the Prem era.
I accept all the moans about dull football (though as a Bolton fan I don't have a lot of sympathy tbh!) and yes, they have had a couple of thumpings ...... but the sack??? Incredible.

AVB got us where he did last season because we had the 3rd best player in the world.

Take out Bales wondergoals and MOTM performances we would have been 7th or 8th, that is fact.

I dont buy the "players settling" stuff.

Ozil at Arsenal, settled from day-1 truly immense.

Suarez joined Liverpool and flourished instantly.

In a results driven business, you dont buy players hoping they will develop, you need to balance it out with proven, ready to go quality. We didnt.

Im putting my money on Sam Allardyce for Spurs :)

I cant think of any well known managers who are currently "available"

He deserves the chance to prove he's not the long ball merchant he gets stick for.

I can't think of a better team

#Allardyceforspurs

Personally I found the West Brom Sacking of Steve Clarke crazier than the AVB one. West Brom were always going to struggle to replicate last season after loosing Lukaku's goals.
As for AVB he's still young enough to go back to Portugal & rebuild his career. & let's face it he'll not be short of a Bob or two after his trip to England.
