• Thank you all very much for sharing your time with us in 2025. We hope you all have a safe and happy 2026!

At last, they've let us through

last 2 we let through our 4 ball proceeded to put both balls in the rough, spend nearly 5 mins looking, found both, hacked out after 3 shots, duffed the next then burst out laughing and said "carry on lads or we'll all be here till we need another shave!" we all laughed and moved on and no-one felt pressurised after that.

I remember our Marshall stopping a three ball to let me and my partner play through as he'd just watched us par the previous hole.

I spanked a drive out there, straight down the middle and felt confident. Stood over my second and my partners creamed his second down the fairway. "head down, they're watching" - and that was that. An almighty big swing, caught the top of the ball with the sole of my hybrid, it bounced about 2 foot in the air, and came to a rest 6 inches behind where it previously lay.

"sorry fellas, be outta your way in a minute" - then murdered it.

Funny thing is that I play better for some reason, dont know why that is because I do get nervous when people are watching and/or they are letting me play through

James and I were playing the 2nd at Pings "Karsten Lakes" course. I hadn't hit a particularly long drive and was about 190 yards out. Four guys were hacking their way down the right hand side, saw us there, and waved us through. Nice easy 4 iron to about 6 feet. They were well impressed.
I missed the fecking birdie putt though.
:(

I had only been playing golf a few months and was playing on my own behind a large society (big mistake). At the Par 3 9th they called me up and waited at the back of the green. I was literally shaking as I hoped to get a decent shot off. I hit it and figured it was ok and would land on the green when suddenly there was an uproar and shouts of "HOLE IN ONE". I almost ran to the green only to find my ball a mm from the hole and apologies as they said the ball hit the cup, did a 360 and stayed out in which time they'd been planning their drinks orders and celebrating. I'll always remember it as I thought it was the closest I'd ever get and the next day only went and hit an ace on the Par 3 11th

Doesn't bother me. If I'm playing on my own and get let through and hit a bad one I'll probably not even bother looking (well not that hard) and just get out of their way. If I'm in a two ball or group again I'll hit the shot and deal with the outcome and either play my second from the short stuff or try and find it and get it as far down and out of range as soon as I can

I will almost certainly play the hole like Tiger Woods in his prime. I will then play the next hole like someone who has never swung a club before in his life and end up holding them up.
