As much as it pains me to say it about Paul Lamberts team but they are awfull, I'd be very surprised if the stay in the Premiership this year.

Truly awfull against Bradford

Lambert is a joke. It's actually quite creepy how much he tries to be Martin Oneill.

No he's not he's a very good manager who stupidly took on a poisoned chalice. Villa are an absolute joke of a club run by uninterested penny pinchers.

The problem is there are many decent Managers and they're not all Premiership quality.
I think this will be the end for Lambert - season's over for them and now they have to fight to stay up - have they got any fight left...?

Get Adkins in there....

Aston villa are the worst team currently in the league but only just. It pains me to say this but i know a very very local team to me that is almost as bad

I'm in this mould a bit too, you cannot expect a team full of kids to have the experience and dig for a dog fight however I can only imagine that his failure to play Darren Bentmis down to Bents attitude, also what's happened to Stephen Ireland, he looks hopeless in comparison to the players he was.

Lambert is a decent manager, unfortunately Villa fans are losing patience. What happened to Adkins is something else I have to say.

He done OK at Norwich but has basically ruined Villa. He's mediocre at best.

He'll be on the buroo in the morning.

As a Villa fan here's my opinion of tonight's performance... Obviously I'm gutted and very angry  first half we played great and like the first leg should have been 2 or 3 up at half time. Now here's the problem, Bradford hit us with a sucker punch and we reacted very badly, especially the manager. He turned into a Sunday league manager and threw every attacker on the pitch with what it looked like no game plan at all. For 30 mins the players where running around clueless and actually looked confused with the system. We stopped all of the positive play from the first half and just hoofed the ball to the 3 strikers hopping they would come up with something which Weimann did after some poor defending but its not good enough. I'm putting 100% blame on the manager tonight as out of everyone I feel he crumbled under the pressure and forgot what his role of manager required, Tactics and game-plan

Well done Bradford. Never thought I would see the day that a fourth tier team would make it to a major cup final.

Aston Villa were clueless after Bradford scored. Play four up front with no one wide to provide the crosses. Straight balls into the box, which made it easy for the Bradford centre backs. Even Dowie spotted that one.;)

Lamberts been working with the poor hand he was dealt when he took over, perhaps he was unaware of how poor a position Villa were in financially and in depth with the squad.

They actually try to play good football but don't have the experienced players to drag them through games that they need to get results in when the backs are to the wall.

They also have some players that have been brought in under previous regimes that simply are not good enough like Ireland who is a shell of a player he was, then there's Delph how does he get near a premier league team poor positionally and his tackling is worse than Paul Scholes.

I think Lambert will be out the door by February and then they start again with a shot at nothing and can't see who would want that job right now god help the poor fans if the rumours I heard from a friend who is a life long villa fan, he told me that Hughes is rumoured to be in line. Now that is a manager who just signs crap and over pays them.

Problem I see is that if Villa join us in the Championship they'll remain in the wilderness for years, they'll lose their best players in Wiemann, Benteke and Vlaar.

Hope the fans get what they deserve which is the board backing the team and helping them remain in the top division because we Rovers fans know to well how tight arsed owners can ruin a clubs ambition with lack of funds and lack of direction with chopping managers about. But if you do offload Lambert send him our way we'd gladly take him over Appleton.

Just look at the donkeys that are in that team and the stupid cash spent.

Darren Bent - £24m = Garbage
Stephen Ireland - £8m = Garbage
Charles N'Zogbia - £10m = Garbage

Dross/past it players like Agbonlahor, Dunne, Given, Guzan, Vlaar, Hutton et all picking up fortunes. This is a glimpse into why Villa are struggling badly.

Add to that Fabian Delph cost £9 million and looks like he'd struggle to get in a junior team. Bates must have had his Adam Ant costume on at the time he punted him. He was average at Leeds and when he went back on loan at Elland Rd last season he was worse.

Villa will be Newcastle saviour it appears.

Gie me a bit of what stublue has been smoking please.

Lambert is clueless when the chips are down. That Villa team has a lot of individuals in it but it's his job to pull them together into a team and he has failed miserably.

Villa left McLeish a steaming pile of poo that has subsequently been left for Lambert. Look at boardroom level for change as that's where the problems lie.

There is no one answer to Villa's problems. This article pretty much sums up most of it.

....However Paul Lambert and the players must take some of the blame. How can they keep making the same mistakes at set pieces over and over again.
As a Villa fan I think we are right in the brown stuff. The clubs around us in the relegation dog-fight seem to have more fire in their bellies then us (apart from Newcastle maybe and we will find out for sure by this time next week).
I also think if we go down it will be a long long road back (see Leeds Utd. )

Come on you mighty Bantams.

What a night, what a rollercoaster ride this has been. Sorry to hijack the thread but thought we fully deserved it because of how poor the Villa players performed in both legs. Delph is a disgrace, his tackle at the end was stupid and petulant of a once decent player. I thought your players looked clueless and didin't have a leader at all, they were looking round for someone to tell them what to do and it didn't come.

Ok we rode our luck at times but also played football in the first leg and 2nd half last night plus we did our homework and played on your lack of defending set pieces and it worked pefectly.

Wembley here we come, can't wait.

Over the two legs Bradford deserved it for me. I feel for Lambert but he's got a losing hand and it will only end one way for him sooner or later. I know Fulham are in for Ireland but no idea what Jol sees in him and he isn't what we need as we get sucked into the relegation dogfight.

On a positive note for Villa fans there are several youngsters there that will become very good premiership players. On the downside it won't be in claret and blue as they will either get sold on by the board or Villa will be in the Championship. The relegation battle is going to the wire this year. QPR are getting better under Harry. Reading are finding some form. Wigan are a Jekyll and Hide team but have the experience of these situations. Newcastle will be ok once they get another win. Villa.... well they are the ones that need something and maybe having the league to focus on may be a bonus.

I'd love Swansea to win the other semi. I think a Bradford v Swansea final will be entertaining and I could see Bradford giving it a good go
