Assistant Pros - what are they teaching them these days?

I bet if you asked the assistant pro to give you a quick lesson while he wasnt too busy , he would soon get off his bum for that at £30-£40 a time.

Strange how the customer needs can be met on the quick sometimes!

I note all the reasons why a pro may not offer these services but to my mind the aim should be to do everything you can to stop people going in another shop. The person may only be spending a fiver but if he goes elsewhere and gets good service and has a good experience then the temptation is to use that place in future. That is a long term customer possibly lost. To me a shop has to do the little things and do them well if they are going to be used for the big spend. Why would I buy a set of custom fit irons from a pro who cannot tweak or maintain them after purchase

yeah that man. And that does not just apply to golf drips etc. went to bathroom place yesterday and the long haired yeti salesmans attitude stunk, as soon as he found out we dint want the all singing dancing, DAB power shower for 3k. He literally turned his back on us. I said when we went out of the showroom I dint like his attitude and our las said ditto, if he cannot be interested in me fiver he won't be seeing 5k either.

One of the best I have ever come across is Chris Higgins at spalding. Not the old school crusty pro but a young one with the right ideas. I needed my old irons and wedges regrippng (11 clubs in total). I already had the grips but no tape, so I rang him at 9 in the morning seeing if I could drop them off after I had played so he could do them. He told me if I was up the club by 9:30 he could do it and they would be ready for me to use at 11:00 that morning. Asked him how much and he said £20 will cover it. Now that is the sort of service you expect.....
