Not going this year, watching it at the local rugby club. Remember going for the 10th game. It was the nearest thing I have seen to a miners gala. Thousands of blokes getting bladdered. A fantastic occasion. Have a good DY those that go.

Paul I will talk to you coz you see a bigger picture. I went to the Army v Navy game a few years ago. It is a massive part of the military institution. A massive tradition. It is a day were old comrades meet up, it is a day were old comrades bump into one another having not seen one another for years. They share stories of past, stories that involve other armed forces guys who will not be " supping" with them coz they lost there lives defending our freedom. The rugby may well be a distraction. But people travel from all over the globe to play and watch the game. They will be waking up this morning with massive hangovers. They meet up in a similar fashion to the old farts v whippersnappers game. I won't be going to that one either but hope they have a good day aswell.

It’s total carnage mate, people will already have started planning for next year, 80,000 drunks inside the stadium and probably the same outside, greatest reunion going.
And very little trouble if any!
Almost a rite of passage to go to your first one and normally many more follow on.

Amen to that, watched it in the rugby club yesterday, amongst the watchers was Len, our RBL branch president. He is 85 yr old today, he was with dave who is 82 today. They were both on the whisky. Len served in Korea with the Warickshires, then joined the paras. He told us some brilliant stories.

Unfortunately I was in the wilds of Northumberland so didn’t get to see it....

Great day and always conducted in the right spirit. A few other sporting crowds could learn a lot

literally an annual pilgrimage for those in the Army or RN. Start drinking at 0900, good stop at Fleet services for the initial catch up, then onto Twickers car park and sometimes even make it in to watch the game. GREAT day out, especially for those serving or veterans of the Army/RN. shame less coverage than some overpaid footballers get on a saturday

Drinking has been curtailed a bit as kick off this year brought forward to 1400 hrs. Which meant for the first time I enjoyed the evening bash.

Largest crowd for an a amateur event according to some.

Before the Army v Navy match yesterday, a soldier walked into a Twickenham bar and bought 9 pints. 8 for his dead comrades in Afghanistan and 1 for himself; he drank his pint and left the bar, leaving photos of each mate at their glass, how incredibly moving is that? 😢😢😢
