Fortunately I have nothing to do with buying, preparing or serving the food. I might be in charge of drinks. Presents for my wife done and dusted due mainly to my daughter so that's me sorted.

My first afternoon of retirement will be spent running around like a BAF, desperately seeking for some inspiration on the Xmas prezzie front.

I took the wife out shopping the other weekend and dragged her round a number of shops in Bury St. Edmunds, seeing if there was anything that seemed to perk her interest, but it was like getting blood out of a stone.

No wonder then that i returned home with a rucksack full of beer from the local specialist bottle shop.

Done all my shopping weeks ago, got the meat delivered on Saturday, all cut in to steaks, vacuum packed and frozen. Tesco run on Monday for the veg and Costco tomorrow for the beer and wine.

HiD got all the decorations up.

So all I have to do from Friday to Wednesday is play golf (weather allowing).

Bit more practice for this evening's community choir concert - and my Hallelujah Chorus is all over the shop. The rest is OK-ish. No matter - I'll blunder my way through the HC. No-one will remember as we go straight into Hark the Herald...to finish.

Meanwhile - I think I have re-mastered tying my bow tie - phew.

Mostly done. Christmas is always a time when people put too much emphasis on basic everyday life. Let's face it. It is a glorified Sunday lunch - simple as that.

I have to grab the father in law from Luton airport on Friday evening (5pm) before driving back to Spalding. 💩

Only buying the one…it’s for my Mrs…and she hasn’t yet decided which Jo Malone perfume she wants me to buy.

My problem is that what to buy her as her ‘little surprise’…as it’s usually perfume.🤔

She has everything else in hand.
My missus wants experiences. A nice 2 nighter in the south of France. Wine. Good food. better weather. etc..
