Are Nike now a recognised Golf Brand

My view is that there golf gear is up there . There apparel is very good at a good price. I now have the vapor pro combo irons and vapor driver and hit them so good that I can't complain.

And as for shoes they are the comfiest pair I've owned .

Nike is up there with the best in all golf gear IMO. I've always loved their marketing campaigns, the athletes they sign up, and of course I love their design ethos.

As a product designer myself, I personally know their head of golf footwear and they always seem to be one step ahead in terms of innovation and design trends. Originally Nike (or Blue Ribbon I think it was back in the day) designed and produced footwear so I think its fair to them that this is probably one of their most excelled and consistent areas. Admittedly I think all brands get it wrong with the clubs sometimes. Occasionally they can release them too soon after a previous release.

As per my signature, you can see I'm a massive Nike golf fan, I own the clubs, the shoes, the bag, the clothing, the socks, the lot (all except a Nike golf ball aha!)

Not yet.
But when they manage to attract some decent players, like Tiger, Rory, Nick Watney, Kevin Chappell, Paul Casey, Tommy Fleetwood, Suzanne Petterson or Michelle Wie, they will be.

They seem to be a very well recognised golf brand. They have the players on their books and know how to shove their product down everyones throats. I don't think they are as popular as they used to be with Joe Public, and their street cred certainly hasn't been great of late. My two teen daughters won't be seen dead in Nike stuff.

I own the Nike Lunar gold shoes £29 from the Nike Outlet up my way but they are pretty basic with the RRP of £89 I'd have been raging if I paid that for them.

Always preferred Titleist as a golf brand. Don't use anything else quite as much. Maybe too scared to use Nike stuff in case I like it lol

I'm also kind of guessing they don't overly rock the Titliest or Callaway look either though?;)

All about the cash..... Even i'd use nike if they paid me and their clubs are fugly.

Well TM are owned by Adidas are they not ? So they are part of a multi sport company

I know that... Titleist are owned by Fila and Cobra are owned by puma if you want to delve into the corporate structures. The fact remains that the brands I mentioned are associated solely with golf whereas Nike is widely associated with multiple sports.

I'd say they are a serious brand and make seriously good kit as do the others. If you look at the new titleist 915 drivers they have the compression channel that Nike had years ago.
Also their R&D department will probably be better funded than most.

Allowed myself a wee chuckle at this.

Dunno about their clubs, balls and bags, I've never used them or been tempted to try them out. Their clobber is decent enough, although I was always more of an Adidas man personally.
I've no doubt that they are a bona fide golf brand though.

Nike are a Golf brand, no doubt.
Their Tour presence validates that by itself.
Personally, I find their kit hideously brash and over the top but that doesn't stop them being regarded as a top brand.

They certainly try hard, along with the likes of TM and latterly Callaway. I don't take too well to having marketing guff shoved in my face all the time so am biased against these companies. All their marketing screams to me is profit, profit, profit, corporate cack, which is probably a little unfair. It's probably true, just not to the extent my biased mind feels it is. I like the way Titleist roll, regular 2-yearly updates, nae much fuss. A little shocked to see The show pony Poults join the stable...might have to reevaluate! Mizuno for me are in danger of doing a Callaway, but seem to have pulled back a little from the E-Z slippery slope. Looks like boutique is the only way to go.

They are a sport brand that make very good golf gear. A golf brand to me is a brand name mostly associated with that one sport. I also do not see Nike as a football brand or really directly associate them with any particular sport. Same with Adidas and other global all encompassing sport brands.

The one thing that always springs to mind when you say Nike i excellent footwear which is why I am always surprised that I have never owned a comfy pair of Nike holf shoes

Taylormade - part of Adidas
Titleist - are they not part of fila
Mizuno - about as multi sport as it gets

Agreed. The average Joe on the street though probably won't know that Adidas own Taylor Made and the Titleist/Fila deal is even less well known.

It's a no brainer , of course they're a golf brand . There's still the "traditionalists" who think that they make basketball clubs but that's their prerogative. Slazenger, Ram and Lynx were at the top of the tree when those with tunnel vision continue to laugh at Nike. My own view is that they fall down badly on footwear which some feel is their strength. I've never ever found a pair of Nike golf shoes to fit and find that they very rarely , if ever, offer wide fit options.

I tired a pair of Nike lunar shoes that my brother lent me when I was. Unbelievably comfortable. I have big flat bunion feet and I fitted into them just fine.
