Apologies in advance - Gratuitous puppy photos alert!

Just a thought for those thinking about a new dog. Rescue centres are full of dogs needing a good home - personally would be the way I'd go rather than buying a puppy.

Our new rescue Barley is settling in and he does have some issues but the small victories we have each day make it all worthwhile. Today he finally plucked up the courage to come upstairs - 4 weeks of sitting halfway up and slinking back down when he was spotted and for some reason he felt relaxed and confident enough today to check out that part of the house. First visit to the vet yesterday which was a tad traumatic and perhaps he's not had a brilliant vet like Zoe in the past. She was amazing with him though...

above

we rescued both of our gsd's.
1st 1 was around 14 mths old same age as son no1 was.sadly at about 14 we had to say good bye.for our very own 1st dog we couldnt have wished it better, like all things they test you,but you soon forget about the indiscretions because they bring so my love into your lives.

we last about 6 weeks, before WE had to get another dog.even with 3 boys the house seemed so empty,so gsd no 2 (and another white 1) was rescued,at 4 mths old.apparently she already had 2 previous so called owners.she is 6 now.

for those who have gsd's i belong to a forum, biggsd.my tales of woe are detailed within :rofl:as well as a few photos of her WALLOWING in mud within minutes of starting the monthly walks they organize.

names,we liked the name she already had, ellie.so we stuck with that.
but for the life of me i could never work out, when out walking on the above walks, there just happened to be another gsd named ellie, yep you guessed it whenever i called my dog the other 1 came to me,and whenever the lady called her dog mine ran up to her.nuts eh.

whatever dog/s you end up with,do your research and maybe join a dedicated forum, because like this forum, they have members who have an abundance of experience which may help you in the future.
