Morning All,

I know I'm not around as much these days, but I know there are some dog fans on here who might appreciate this...

Picking up this little lady on New Years Day to bring her home...Can't wait

Wonderful. Is that a Springer? Enjoy and be ready for lots of walks. Very energetic, but lovey dogs.

Certainly is!

My wife had one as a family dog. He was bats*** crazy but was ace. Walking was precisely the reason (or one of them) that we chose to get a Springer. We go to the Lake District every year and do a lot of days out that are conducive to walking fair miles with a dog so we're really rather excited.

The first couple of months will be tricky trying to work around both our working lives, but should be doable and in the long run will be totally worth it.

We went up to visit her yesterday and couldn't believe how calm she was...too good to be true? :D

We have a cocker spaniel and took her to The Lakes when she was about 4 months. It was great for socialising with other dogs, they are everywhere. The lovely thing is that every shop, pub, tea shop etc let dogs in. It was open house. The other thing I learnt, 25 years too late, is that pretty young ladies love puppies. We could barely walk 5 paces in a town or village without women stopping us to coo and pat the puppy. If I only I had known this years ago........

They say owners and their dogs look alike, and that one is your spitting image Jon.;)

Looks like a bundle of trouble. Enjoy.

Nothing confirmed yet - Isla and Poppy seem to be top of the list at the minute though!

Rich - if only I was that cute looking!

Lovely dog. We've got a 7 month old Cocker (as well as a 3 year old Lab)and regularly head up to the Lakes (was in Keswick yesterday helping with the clean up). Almost every decent pub is dog friendly. It's become a bit of a lifestyle now. Weekend comes, up to the lakes. It helps that it's only an hour away.

good luck!

id love to have a dog but as both me and mrs 169 work 9-5 its not fair to keep it in all day.

As do we - but we're lucky enough to have a pretty decent boss, so I'll be working from home 2-3 mornings/afternoons a week for the first month or so at least whilst she gets settled...

After that, we are also lucky enough to have my parents live 5 minutes from where we both work, so we can take separate lunch breaks to give her plenty of lunchtime exercise. Will be hard work in the short term, but totally worth it!

Worst case, we only live 15 minute drive from work so if I have to, I'll eat lunch whilst I'm working and take a lunch break to go home and walk her!

We've been waiting 8 years to own a dog (lived in a flat before, so wasn't really fair), so I'm not letting work stop me from getting one!

Yup it was a springer that was trying to lick my face off at roscoes last week when we walking down memory lane, lovely dogs.

can feel a thread being started about what the dogs name should be.

Beautiful dog mate. Anyone got any recommendations on where to stay in the lakes? Been wanting to take my lab up there for a while.

We always pick a cottage in a different area each year.

We stayed just outside Ambleside this year and it was great. Obviously Windermere/Ambleside tends to be a bit more tourist-y, but there's some fantastic walks right on the door so we barely used the car.

Staying just outside Consiton next year (in a dog-friendly cottage this time!) to explore some of the walks around there.

Hawkshead and the surrounding area is nice too.

Best place was probably near Ullswater though - Direct route up Helvellyn and Striding Edge, which is one of my favourite walks.
