I did and the damn ball would either scoot stright through the frozen green or I played it up short for the rock hard bounce and this one wasn't frozenand it just went splat short!
As for checking the ball with a nice chip...
This can seriously mess with your game!!

Not for me I'm afraid. Happy to play in the cold, but when the ground is frozen solid there's nothing enjoyable about it.

In hindsight, glad my Saturday round got cancelled. I'd rather go up the range and work on some stuff.

I played 9 holes at the local par 3 yesterday whilst my lad was in his lesson - went round 7 over par (7 bogeys, 2 par) which I thought was pretty good under the conditions. On the first two holes after putting, the water drops froze to the putter face......not to mention the ball picking up a ton of ice.....

I then played another 6 holes yesterday afternoon at mine on temp greens , whilst the wife had her lesson. Went round 3 over for the 6 - 2 par's, 2 bogey's, one double bogey and a birdie. Again, quite happy with that under the conditions.

Hit a couple of buckets on the range Saturday afternoon too.

I refuse to play in frozen conditions as it does mess with your head and game. I went up to the club on Saturday but the course was frozen and all 18 holes were on temp greens, so I just went to the range. Got a lot more out of the 45 minute range session that I would of done in a 3-4 hour round on a frozen course!

Teed off at 0812 on Saturday! Bloody freezing, lovely day clear and sunny but whole course was solid! I just like to get out, don't take anything too serious, funnily ball striking was a bit better and pitching was back online! Now too see if it was just because it was frozen!

I did so - 4 times last week and loved every one of them. Sure it was a lottery at times but if I struck the shot I planned and it took one bounce and through the green - so be it - made me chuckle (mostly)! It was hard to under club though as the ball would stick more on the fringe and remain short on a few of our Par 3's but hit it onto the green and one bounce and you're chipping back or taking a drop having hit the lake.

The only time I questioned my sanity was when I was close to a huge tree and the ground had not thawed for days and was solid mud with no grass to help. End result was through the green and scarily close to oob. Ball was just sitting on the river bank though and somehow got up and down for a win on the hole. Also did the same from a frozen bunker later in the round...

Challenging for sure but the same for everyone and it was so lovely to be out in the winter sunshine.

I played sunday morning in the captains fiddle, whole course frozen solid and had to play on temps.Only hit one bad shot all day yet still managed to shoot 90 for last place and the wooden spoon, after winning last week shooting 73.I enjoyed every single minute of it,glorious winters day, good company, and far better than batting range balls off a mat.

I played and had an absolute cracker.
The 2nd round of our eclectic and I had 5 birdies.
Putting me 6 under gross for 2 rounds.

I seemed to get the luck of the bounce, I'd land the ball just short and then let it roll up to the hole.
Only a couple of ball flew through the back when landing on the green.

I really enjoy the challenge.

Played once many years ago. Only as it was with a friend I had not seen for years. We played both days of the weekend. It was not just frozen most holes were sheet ice. Wound up not playing for 6 months as I damaged my wrist and elbow. So have never played in frozen conditions again.

Played our non-qualifying monthly stableford on Saturday. Whole course forzen, temp greens, but still enjoyed it.

That may be becasue I hit it really well and managed 37 points even with two blobs (bad bounces I'm blaming :o ).

Came 2nd out of 50 so pretty happy.

Played first thing Saturday morning in a friendly round, followed a winter league match on Sunday morning. Saturday was rock solid but fun all the same, with the course a bit softer yesterday. Enjoyed every minute of being out in the sun. Yes, it was hard to score in places and not 'normal' golf but it was still a pleasure and I'd do it all again.

I went out yesterday afternoon,It wasn't really about the golf more a case of getting out because it was such a nice day.
I actually played some pretty good stuff though, probably because I was totally switched off and didn't care about the score.

Played Saturday on winter greens all the way round. Frozen solid but enjoyed it. No wind and the sun was out so all in all not too bad for this time of year - can only play at weekends so gotta take my chances when I can.

Just a friendly knock so we agreed to allow 'sensible' placing on the fairways (within a club length anywhere where you could hot it off a tuft of grass so not to injure yourself )

Putting was 'interesting' as was trying to land a shot on tiny greens that were like concrete.

3 over handicap and all down to the chipping and putting on the frozen temps so fairly pleased.

Played Saturday in the roll up. Ground rock solid, 15 temporary greens, and managed 34 points, which was only 5 points of the best score. Just a great day to be out, not that cold in the sun with the thermals on. Not bothered about frozen greens, good to practice chip and runs. Struck the ball well which is what it is all about. Who cares if you get an odd bounce, just a bit of fun, and certainly wouldn't let it 'mess with my head'. Some people take the game much too seriously.
