Anyone planning on playing in any Open's this year

My last 4 rounds have been 40points 42points (terrible wind and rain at a good links course) 24pts(9hole comp winner parkland mush) and 47pts (again parkland mush) and thats just in the last week and a half.

Phil

Please be kind enough to let me know which Opens you plan to play in. I'll save my money

Annual pilgrimage to Royal Aberdeen in September will be a definite....a great open competition that will be played sober this year as we are going up and down in a day due to heading off on a 5 day bender to Oktoberfest 2 days later!

Might just get under 85 gross if the weather is kind!!

hopefully going to get a few in and maybe a couple of atour events or mid amateur tour events.

adult and junior with my nephew at fulford and possible chipping sodbury too.

A few of us are going to play in the Montrose open at the end of July.

Played in it for the first time last year and surprisingly made the cut but got my bum kicked in matchplay by a local fella.

definitly as it varies your game, varies your network and its fun.
The golf empire site seems a bit limited for Scottish events with only the same courses for most comps and a few courses are actually missing!
Is there another site that has them all or another site with different clubs?

I am always amazed at opens being available for hackers (sorry, make that handicap golfers). At my club it is cat 1 only, and then it is done by handicap, so a lot of the 4 point something's don't get in.
Funny thing is, when I moved to England, I was amazed at how few Open competitions were actually open, and not restricted to just cat 1. Up here in Scotland, normal opens are everywhere

I was due to upload our Opens onto GE today but have spent the day wiping folks arses.....tomorrow hopefully if the bairns can look after themselves for a day.

S.G.U. website is a decent one for us Jocks to use.... http://www.scottishgolf.org/index.cfm?objectid=9433383D-CE9C-8542-E9CB510BC6A412D1

Woburn will have two Open weeks this year, in August and in October. Men's singles, junior's singles, pairs and texas scramble. Handicaps 18 and below, I believe.

I've played the October pairs two years in a row and will be going back for this years' for definite.

I've not got any planned this year but if anyone fancies pairing up in an BB open in Cheshire or Lancashire then let me know !!

Last year was the first time I felt confident enough so David and I entered 5 mixed opens and finished 2nd in 3 of them, 3rd in 1 and 5th in the other and won lots of goodies. After the first one (2nd on c/b) he kept telling me not to get used to it but I'm the optimist in the house so thought we'd win the lot !! Not sure how many we'll do this year as we're both earning less so may limit it as we also plan a trip to Scotland and have 2 golfing breaks to The Lakes now I play...

They are a great way to play different courses and meet some nice people and have some scrummy grub and perhaps win some gear too !
