anyone have a diet that really works

Instead of having 3 big meals a day, have 6 smaller meals. This increases metabolism so you burn off your food faster and easier and you don't go hungry.

My weight loss Jan-June 2007 was 15'12 to 12'4.

Method:
No chocolate/sweets/biscuits
2 sandwiches instead of 3 for lunch
A good healthy meal - meat/fish with lots of salad
A snack about 9pm (cereal bar or low calory crisps)
Run 5km on treadmill or road twice a week
No beer for first 3 months
Couple of glasses of wine if out through the week
Maybe a couple of bottles if out at weekend !!

I now run once a week and do have beer and the weight levelled out at 13st which I am more than happy with. I have never been a runner but now enjoy it. I never liked salad but now enjoy it. You have to commit to changing your lifestyle a bit or it will come back over time and all the hard work is wasted.

Or 3 smaller meals and you might get somewhere.

Diets are completely useless and a con generated by a multi-billion dollar industry.

It is absolutely simple. Eat a bit less, do more exercise. In two weeks you will be thinner. FACT.

Anyone who says anything else is being deluded by the fitness industry's marketing machine.

Right firstly thanks for all of the advise that I have received, it was all most welcome :D for anyone interested or like me on the obese side (god I hate that word, I'm basically a fatty) I have settled after much research on the Harcombe diet, see utube link below. I have got the books for £8.00 from Amazon ,no advert intended for either the diet or where I got the books, for the mods and I am starting tomorrow.
I hope to keep you all informed of any progress in case anyone else fancies joining in at some stage. DB.
oops forgot the link

the preferred term is 'of manly proportions'

Update...I have lost over a stone and after feeling awful at the beginning I feel great now. I cannot lie I have the odd (and it really is just an odd) beer at the weekend after my round. I cannot hurt that much. I feel fitter and trimmer so hopefully it's onwards and upwards. I really am enjoying this diet which helps.I will keep posting and hopefully I can make a success of it this time.

Drawboy, glad you're seeing results.

There are some good bits written here, particularly about the calorie deficit and smaller snacks/meals more often than 3 big meals.

One thing I would like to add is, if you're cutting, you're best not to eat carbs late at night, especially simple carbs. 5pm is usually my cut off point.

This rules out sweets, chocolate, pasta, bread, rice and potatoes.

It's difficult, but you can get all the energy you need from protein and fats.

So if your peckish after 5pm what would you eat?
