I need to get some weight off fast, it really is effecting my golf and I have tried virtually everything going. Trouble with me is that If I do not see results I give up too easily and go back to how I was. If I do see results I will stick to it like glue. So who out there has a diet that works? I'll try anything once.

The only Diet that works is to eat less calories than you expend. Find out your Basel Metabolic rate (calories needed to be alive for the day) add on the calories used for average hourly rate doing the things you do, and consume less than that.

Less food, more exercise. Eat good breakfast, decent lunch, light tea/dinner and nothing else. Cut down on the beer.
I knew I was going wrong somewhere :(

Definately cut the alcohol, too many calories in in the booze!!
Try to get some exercise also, at least 30 mins cardio 5 days a week.
also try and limit the number of pizza's, curries etc

:)

The Billy Connolly diet.
Eat less, move more.
Dont change what you eat (unless it's all crisps and chocolate) just eat less of it.
That way, when you get to your ideal weight, you wont pile it back on again.
And less beer.
Not no beer, just less :)

The key is to build exercise into you daily/weekly routine and you will eventually get to the point where you have to get your training fix. I enjoy running with the wife. It keeps us both fit and I get to spend time with her. Quids in!!! I can eat as much as I like as I know that I will just burn it off. There are no easy fixes or short cuts and it can take a while to get there but you'll never regret making the effort. Good luck.

I have lost a stone in the last 12 months without any real exercise.

How did I do it? Firstly I weighed myself first thing every morning and recorded it in a notebook. My target was to remain the same or lose a fraction a of a pound for the next day.(this didnt always happen but over the long term it did) I also record my weight weekly on a squared paper sheet so I can see trends in my weight eg, put some on over xmas.

People will say "dont use scales" I say bollucks to that. How can you see if something is working or not if you dont have a baseline etc.

It might be an idea to record you food intake for a cuople of weeks and highlight and high fat food eg chocolate crisps etc. It is amazing how having to write something down will stop you from eating it. A lot of people has massive portion sizes and that is something to really look at.

You can introduce exercise whenever you want which will allow you to eat more!!!

The main thing to remember is to find out how much is too much for you and keep focused on it.

I dont go on weight via scales but if the belt is needing another notch etc. Remember muscle is a lot heavier than fat so you may be heavier after a lot of training and weigh more. A 6ft guy weighng 16 stones with a massive gut weighs less than Gavin Hastings in his prime at 17 stone as he was muscle ;)

But if your going from the last notch on the belt to the second last your still going to be very porky :p

I agree on the muscle weighing more. My plan for the next 12 months is to introduce some dumbbell exercises and get down to about 12stone 7. I was 15 '3 at my peak. I intend to go back to playing squash during the long evening and a bit of cycling bt nothing like a gym junkie as it has no appeal to be apart from the good looking ladies. :p

I think you (op) should get yourself some scales that measure your bodyfat. This is the true reading of your insides....... Saying your big boned wont cut it then

not if I buy a bigger belt ;)

I was once given a copy of a 'Beetroot Diet', altho not sure why the hell it was called that.

I tried it for a while, and boy did it work, in fact, I should try and dig it out actually.

Was a pre-planned 3day meal regime, which I quite often did for 4/5 days at a time, and strangely, it didnt leave me hungry at all.
Was things like Poached egg on toast for Breakfast, & a half Grapefruit, and Crackers/Cottage cheese for lunch, followed by meat, Steamed Veg & stuff for tea.
Really did work, - look it up if you can .

Or.....as has been said,.....eat less/move more.

I lost about a stone and a half in 3 months after xmas by running and working out 3 to 4 times a week. I quit smoking. My diet consisted of porridge for breakfast fruit during the day, wholemeal bread for sandwiches at lunch, nuts instead of crisps (more for energy purposes), no chocolate, nice stuff for tea but not real fatty foods (eg meat and veg or pasta or chicken, rice, salad not kebabs and pizza and chippy). No coffee or tea, instead peppermint tea which has no caffeine. Plenty of water. To be honest I felt great. I felt fitter and stronger than I had in a long time.

Anyway it's all gone out the window now, smoking again, boozing loads and eating as much [****] as I can get my hands on.

I have lost weight on a few occasions. Mostly I put it back on resuming eating too much again.
I do it by basically cutting back on the last meal of the day. Cereal and toast (proper breakfast, if you discount a fry-up!)
Sensible lunch (plenty of veg) and then small supper, like a sandwich or beans on toast. I cut out ALL snacks and booze.

Yep

Cut out the sweets, chocolate, fatty foods, sweets, beer, sweets, chocolate, crisps, chocolate, sweets, chocloate, crips, sweets and chocolate!!

Simples.

I've only ever dieted once, and it worked for a fair while - then I settled down with the new HID and got all sedentary again.

I joined a gym that was on my way to work, and did an early morning session 3-4 times a week ( never on a Friday ). Just a quick cardio and machine session, it took about 45 minutes. After a month of suffering, it became the best part of the working day.

Then live on Slimfast during the day. 3 shakes @ 200 calories each. Snack on fruit and carrots ( I never limited the rabbit food - I only ate it when I was hungry ffs )

Then 600 calories in the evening. I ate a lot of processed stuff coz it's easier to count the calories than to prepare fresh food. It was an unhealthy diet in many ways, but by god it worked.

As for booze. A shot of rum in them days was 50 calories. So a large was 100 calories ( with me so far ? ). Diet coke is in effect 0 calories. So a large rum and coke was, umm, 100 calories. ( good so far innit. ) On a Friday night I'd want about 6 of them, so to fit that into the diet I'd need to save 600 calories during the day. Normally that'd be cutting out one shake at lunchtime, and then eating very little before going out.

The added advantage was that I'd get pissed very quickly.

Like I say, a very unhealthy diet, but it worked. And eventually you don't get hungry all the time. Oh, and the other hunger stopper I sometimes used was thin sliced white bread. Plain - no topping ( although I'd sometimes make it a lettuce, carrot and apple sandwich. Yum yum. :( ). That's 50 calories to you, but it would stop the pangs if they were getting really bad.

Yes I know fruit and veg has calories, but to my mind they were 'good' calories, and were compensated by the gym work.

Go to EGYPT, enjoy to food and Tutankamens revenge will do the rest.
Otherwise cut out the booze and carbs, basically stick to protein -meat and fish and fruit and veg, and then use a saucer instead of a plate and keep too busy to eat. ;)

Lypotrim is supposed to be very good, a few people at work swear by it. I think you can buy from Flea bay. Cant vouch how healthy it is but weight does fall off fast apparently.
