Winter League 4BBB matchplay on temp greens. I started like a prize knob, barely getting my tee shot past the ladies on the first, luckily my partner kept us in the game for the first four holes and then on the par 4 5th I hit a lovely drive that ran close to the hole on the temp green and just off the back, should be a cast iron birdie so looking good for the hole, opposition then holes from 50 yards for eagle, needless to say my eagle putt stays up.

Nip and tuck from thereon in, coming down the par 5 18th we're one up, I put my third to 2 feet and that settles the nerves! We win 2 up.

Course wasn't as bad as I'd feared and shouldn't take long to get back to normal, rain staying away!

got an email off the course Friday saying all holes open and greens in good nick, woke up this morning and weather luvvly, starting to miss my membership already :(

In other words I haven't played this weekend!

Got to be careful what I say as I have a stalker following my every word Anyway, 3 over gross for the front 9 off the back tees and then a disappointing but still under handicap 7 over for the back 9 to win my winter league 3 & 1, still unbeaten:whoo:

Can't post it anywhere else, as my stalker will report it

Played the Brabazon today, The rough was quite muddy in parts but the greens where fantastic as where the tee boxes and fairways.

The 10th was only playing 215 yards to the front of the green and my hybrid was and inch away  I hit the top of the wooden frame that edges the green and the ball shot off left over the stream and rolled down the opposite bank into the water  I got up and down for par but the shot deserved so much more and it would have been great to have an eagle putt...

So is it a par 4?

Here's Rory playing it...

Had a thoroughly enjoyable game today. Went to the club I joined recently, no one there I knew so decided to play on my own. Noticed a chap waiting on the fifth tee, he asked me to join him. He proceeds to smash the ball 300 yards down the fairway, I follow with my 200 yard dibbly dobbly, and off we go. I ask him 'Have you been a member for long?' 'I'm not a member here, I'm a pro, just having a bit of practice. Don't like playing on my own though.' So off we went. Great fun, played all 18 in 2 and a half hours. I only had half a set as I was carrying, but I birdied the last for an 80. best round since my return from a 20 year sabbatical.

Strange one for me today, started hitting fat shots from nowhere, probably 7 tee shots almost missed the ball but managed a 3 over 75. Course playing shorter though, about 6k yards at the mo.

41 points today in our swindle, 3/4 handicap for our swindle so could have been a few more points if it was full handicap.

Keep playing like this and I can see me getting to Cat 1 this year.

I was up at 6am Saturday morning, had to work Saturday night and got back just before 8. With mrs H away and dogs to look after I didn't get any meaningful sleep until 9 last night. I think it's the first time the course being closed hasn't bothered me!

Played both days 32 points Saturday which felt like it could've been a couple better. Then a gross 74 yesterday which wouldn't have taken better golf to make 2 better - Hit my drive up the left side of 15 (dogleg left and being brave) couldn't see where it landed but thought it should be in a decent position. Found it Titleist 1 black dot above the logo, not the best strike but made it to the front edge, then a fella playing the adjacent hole "Are you playing a Titleist 1 black? I think you've just played my ball" (he was wrong btw I hadn't played his, problem was I hadn't played mine either!).

I walked over played my ball and proceeded to walk to the green and found I'd played an almost identical ball to my own, chipped my own ball up and sank the putt for a double bogey 6! (I eagled the first half an hour later which really made me feel better!)

Played Hollins yesterday and as expected it was a very inconsistant, very remembering how to do it kind of round but really enjoyable. Did score that well but did manage 2 pars inbetween the inconsistancy, which for my first round back is pretty good lol

Only low point of the day was tweeking my groin on the last drive, think the walk and lack of golf may contributed to this but hopefully it should be ok within a week or so. Great deal at Hollins with a meal afterwards, course was in decent condition especially with all the rainfall on Sat night.
