I bought a titleist umbrella from 118 golf on 25/02 for approx £27 using paypal. Payment out showed on my bank statement a few days later. After taking ages with no umbrella in sight I received a 'refund' on 09/03 along with paypal email and completed transaction showing on my account. However, the £27 did not show in my account and hasn't been paid into my bank.

I also bought a Cleveland wedge from Direct Golf last week which needed to be refunded due to a stock error. Once again the payment has gone out of my account, I've received the refund email, but no money in my paypal account, nor my bank. Something tells me this is going to be like the previous incident.

I have emailed paypal but not expecting much so likely going to phone them on Monday. Anybody experienced anything similar or got any advice for me?

Seems to me the refunded money will be in your paypal account, it does not transfer automatically to your bank account unless you ask it to via the withdraw money button.

When you paid via paypal in the first place for the goods the fact money has been taken from your bank account simply meant you didn't have any funds in your paypal account to cover the purchase cost so it took the money out of the back up bank account.

Check your paypal account - money will be in there I'm guessing.

They have put a temporary hold on the refund from Direct Golf for some reason. No idea why they have done that. I've worked out the 118 golf episode, the refund did actually go in but I bought something else soon after which reduced the balance. Oh well, hope it gets sorted out asap

I had my first problem with Paypal last week after about 8 years of using them. Some joker tried to steal $50 from me, but the payment was blocked and my account was "restricted".
I'd read about how difficult it was to get any satisfaction from Papal complaints, but they couldn't have been more helpful when I phoned them and my account was back up and running within minutes of calling them.
Give 'em a call.

I think the "temporary hold" thing is just a step in the refund process that provides a window within which the legitimacy of the refund can be confirmed.

When I enquired about this same thing following a refund from OnlineGolf I received the following response:

"If your Instant Bank Transfer is refunded, this refund cannot be completed until we receive the money from your bank to cover the original payment we made. A ‘Temporary Hold’ is ‘Placed’ on your refund while your bank processes your initial Instant Bank Transfer request.
When we receive the money from your bank, we will process the refund."

So, sit tight, it'll be credited soon!

I have nothing but problems with paypal every time I use them!! they are M***** *******!
