Anybody actually get to play this weekend?

Our place was shut on Saturday after very heavy overnight rain on Friday night. Fortunately I had already planned Sunday as the day to play to avoid clashes with some family stuff.

Woke up early to check the website & amazed to find it fully open. Got a couple of early calls from guys who I play with Saturdays asking if they could tag along to the group on Sunday so we had a pleasant 4 ball, breezy conditions but more importantly ...dry. A bit slow as everyone was making the most of it.

Not my best game but scored decently mainly down to solid driving & good putting - approach shots were poor but with a few weeks closed out due to weather thats the part of my game that suffers first so there is still hope for the season :) (unless the rain continues that is!)

Yeah got a game in the winter league on Sunday. Was a bit rough after a great bounce at Tynecastle watching Aberdeen v St Johnstone. 33 points, not bad considering the hangover.

Got my 2nd game since Xmas.
My club was closed, as are most in Derbyshire, but a friend invited me to Mottram Hall.
I was amazed how well kept it was considering the weather this year. The back 9 had a few muddy spots, but on the front 9 only a few spots around tee boxes were muddy, and the greens were amazingly smooth, Ashbourne when I played it, the greens were pock-marked and bumpy.
I can only assume that Cheshire hasn't had half as bad weather as we have had.

Played 13 this afternoon and in places it's still a bog but in the main course was better than I expected for the time we've been shut, chances of playing tomorrow are slim at best given the forecast.

and so after two relatively dry days it has been tipping it down all evening and according to weather forecast bucketloads of the darn stuff to come - here in sunny Surrey

Lets face it SilH, we aren't getting back to normal for a good couple of weeks. More heavy stuff is forecast for the next 3 days and it looks like raining in some capacity every day for the next week (with the exception of Sunday when the courses will be closed anyway).

Torrential rain last night and high winds that kept me awake at times, but, were still open AND with trolleys allowed  Have to say I'm surprised but we have moved off some tee boxes now to forward mats which to be fair, are very good quality.

This has been the wettest winter in 40 years in Merseyside but it seems not to rain on Saturdays, Mondays and Thursdays. Only missed 2 comps since last April. 27 holes open; Mats in front of three lakes, but all greens and tees in play. Only recently banned buggies but power trolleys still ok.
