Anybody actually get to play this weekend?

Had a nice walk today with a few clubs in a bag. Sun shining, few good hits followed by a few bad hits. Just enjoyed being out there. It mattered not that only 9 holes open, nor 7 temps. Just wandered round dreaming of rest of year and plenty golf.

Got out for 8 today and a bit of chipping and putting practice. Wasn't really keeping score was only looking to test out the new driver shaft, which seems to be working well. Or i was just swing rather well today.

me and scouser played in a better ball stableford comp. 41 points off 3/4s. missed out on top spot by a point. prize was a week in Ireland, 4 top courses. gutted! :(

nice to play on a decent length course and full greens again. no doubt back to temps now till spring!

Played Saturday full course open, no temps but a couple of temp tee areas. Really didn't think we would be open and prob shouldn't have been. Still we had a highly enjoyable round showing signs of the swing making improvement.

Tell me about it should have bought a map, for a first timer was a bit confusing but great to be out. No temporary greens and only a couple of temporary tee's, happy days😊

After a miserable wet and windy 9 holes yesterday is was a pleasure to travel 20 miles today to play a links course bathed in sunshine with no mud and a light breeze.

Played 18 on Saturday, stonking front 9 for 23 points, then the wind got up and blew me away, 12points back :(
Good to get a game and only 3 temps. Didn't get rained on either. No complaints. :)

Lovely sunny day here - except for 30-40 mph wind - made a mess of managing my time and was working till an hour before sunset - got out and managed to fit seven holes in, particularly enjoying playing from bunkers at the moment - that's not a phrase I ever thought I'd utter.

Played both days - frustratingly, all on temps.

Played today with the current and immediate former greens chairmen. We walked on to every green and all bar one were quite firm and totally playable - not even a drop of water in the cups!! Due to the laziness of a glorified grass cutter this morning, the club has missed out on approx. £500 today.

We would have been one of the only places open on full greens in the area and would have made a killing on green fees - the temps also put a load of members off coming out, so bar and food revenue gone too.

The members get regular club emails which all ask for our support for this or that - losing patience if the club cannot even help itself.

:(

Good Point - though the condition might not have been the same when the 'Grass Cutters' were doing their thing.

This is the best approach to Winter Golf imo. Plus the company!

Played this morning. All tees and greens open (as usual), just a couple of pathways seemed to have been hit hard ... work already started to strip them and re-lay them, so they'll be done by mid-week.

Not me - course closed. We spent the afternoon in Winchester - wandering around, admiring the wealth oozing out of every pore of residents and the town - and enjoying the glory of the quite astonishing cathedral and the haunting sounds of evensong.

Lovely day today...course in great nick considering all the rain. Greens are outstanding.
Played in the swindle and managed 32 points, which included 2 blobs, and was good enough for 4th place and 3 OOM points to put me up to joint 3rd in the swindle.

Would be nice to get a few more dry days......

Played 18 yesterday and today. Yesterday was all on full greens with a few tees moved up. Was very wet and muddy in rough but fairways and greens were pretty good. Today played with 2blue at his place on full greens and tees. Was in superb condition with only a few soggy patches. Less than a mile between the 2 clubs but wike has certainly faired better.

Still not even dusted the clubs off since August, need start playing again soon. Spent today in bed as HID took the kids out, I saw rain and nothing worth watching on the goggle box so the king size duvet was calling.

I only ask as hardly any recent posts seem to be about playing the game.

I'll kick it off, as I had a good result today!

Course was closed yesterday and I was surprised to see 18 holes open today for the Winter League 4BBB, a mix of temp and main greens.
We halved the first three holes then went 1 down on the fourth and after that, however hard we tried, we were always 1 or 2 down until the 15th when we at last squared the match, finally went ahead on 17 and a shaky three footer on 18 for par and a half sealed a crucial one up win.

Yup, I too had a good result.

8 pars, 8 bogeys, 1 double and 1 birdie saw me play to 9.

I'm not sure if I was more pleased with that or the 3 iron into the final green.

Got out nice and early yesterday as a 2 ball as a foursomes comp was on that I hadn't seen the entry sheet for.

2 holes closed where water had backed up when it should have run off under the airfield next door (although on looking it seemed 15 was only shut due to having to access from 14 where the problem actually was).

Rest if the course was in cracking condition considering how bad weather had been – credit to the green staff and I guess the combination of a bit of sun and wind on Saturday must have helped out.

Oh and won 2 and 1 to take a nice free fry up!

Nine holes open so we played that twice, once off yellows, once off whites. I didn't play particularly well but did maintain my record this year of scoring more points on the white nine than the yellow nine.

Hopefully the whole course will be open soon as playing the front nine over and over again is getting a bit repetitive. There's an outside chance it may be fully open today but I suspect we'll have more rain this week which will see us back to nine for the weekend. Still, I guess we're luckier than most round our way.
