Anybody actually get to play this weekend?

Played a stableford QR Friday - buffered.
Played a medal QR yesterday - least said the better.

Course in excellent order despite the recent downpours - all on normal tees and greens.

I decided not to bother after relentless rain all week - as it turned out both days were dry and conditions decent - wish I had bothered now! Everything has been open apart from 1 day over Christmas and the first Saturday of this year - although they implemented a trolley ban this week. The course now copes well with most things apart from a few holes - 1 still needs more work although it has improived a lot 8 they are going to fix again soon (just about nailed it until they massively extended the pond) and 5, which is the worst on the course and needs a big plan to keep it dry), and tees on 6 and 17 need work

Our front nine is playing well, you wouldn't even know we'd had as much rain as we have and I found out yesterday what a lot of the problem with the back nine is. It appears that after our new Course Manager cleared all our ditches a couple of years back it became a bit of a mystery as to why the water wasn't running away. Further investigation identified that the Crown Estate, who own the land we are on and most of the land around it, haven't been maintaining their ditches which ours run in to. They have apparently now committed to doing so which should alleviate most of the problem. There are still a few things we can do to improve things but hopefully not as major or expensive as originally feared. We will see...

Our course has been shut due to being water logged, it has re-opened, but no trolleys allowed, the sweep is on today, but I'm not carrying my bag, it would wreck my back, so it may be the driving range later.

Played in blustery and showery conditions on Saturday in the winter 4-balls. First outing for my shiney new AP1 irons - shot a 3 over par 39 for the first 9 which is a record for me :-) Normal service was resumed on the inward half into the increasing wind.

Apart from a few winter tees we had the full course & greens. We're still playing off mats on the fairways until the end of the month which I don't mind too much and it does protect a v. busy course outwith the growing season. We see the benefit come March/April in not having hacked up fairways all spring.

Sunday was a glorious sunny day but even windier than Saturday. Just played round myself trying to get the feel for the new irons. A real challenge in the wind but the sun was out and the company was excellent (:-)), so all good. Played 2 balls most of the way round to pace myself to the 4 ball in front, so came home a bit stiff after double the normal amount of shots! Didn't think of that - duh.

Played last round of winter league yesterday , 13 holes (4 temps) 3/4 handicap and had 33pts off 5 (-2).. in windy conditions

technically its the first time ive ever shot under par in any comp , not claiming it tho , may wait for the real golf for that..

striking it well tho so will take that and go from there .. won captains drive in last week (team thingy) and then this , this week , so hopefully it bodes well

39pts was leading ..

Got a round in at Rockliffe yesterday, pretty wet in places and a bit windy but turned out a good day after probably one of the worst tee shots I've ever hit.

Stood on the 1st tee with the starter watching and managed sky it out of the toe of the driver and nearly on to the 18th green which is practically at a right angle to the tee and about 80 yards away.

Off out to play my course now as it's fully open for the 1st time in a week.

Had to sit out Saturday as course closed after the near constant rainfall of the previous 3 days (wasn't too bothered as management had been on lates all week so I was knackered and a lie-in was well in order).

Got the email at 6:45 yesterday morning "course open" just as well as I was up, dressed and ready to go! Gross 74 with some really steady golf, made 2 birdies neither was a putt over 2.5feet (and they weren't conceded miserable so-and-soes)

Quite right too, never concede a birdie putt

Ventured out to play early both Saturday and Sunday and never made it to the sixth tee both times. Really windy and rain getting heavier. The annoying thing was that by early afternoon on both days it was not raining and a good deal brighter, but still windy :(

Played 16 Saturday morning, Wind was blowing up to 50 mph and it wasn't that enjoyable. Winter league yesterday with the wind only 1 or 2 club and managed a sneaky 38 points so pleased with that. Felt almost spring like yesterday, tee'd off at 8.10 and by the time we came off the course it was 7 degrees.

Played sunday,I had a back spasm on the 14th hole.
Standing there unable to move for 5 minutes, finally eased, did a few wiggles
and carried on.
Hopefully its not too serious, feels a little stiff this morn but okay.

Played on Sunday, the sun never stopped shining, it was WONDERFUL to be out there and played ok. Had to birdie the last to draw with my bro...

Well we plodded around in the md and wet....you couldnt really call it playing.

Played Sunday.

Wind was blowing a bit but probably the best weather I've played in for a few weeks.

Played terrible, struggled all round and finished with a miserable 25 points.

Played Sunday and the course was fine. Only surface water was in the fairway bunker on the first, and across the 18 fairway. Managed to lose our 4 ball knockout after being four up after eight.:( We were 1 under gross on the front nine, helped by my partners first ever eagle on the par 4 third. Back nine our opponents were also 1 under gross, playing off 13 and 18.

Got out on Saturday. We are incredibly lucky - all normal greens, just a couple of winter tees. Even our chalk is struggling to cope with the volume of water - but for the moment all is OK. Was a beauty of a morning. Played out of my skin as well - which certainly helped my mood - qualifying Stableford - so healthy cut:cool:
