Any snobs at your place.

When we emigrated from Rochdale to Mansfield about 1970, I remember saying on the first Saturday night we were there " what time does the black pea man come around". Was gutted when I was told they don't eat black peas in Notts.

Edit to say, every Saturday night a guy used to peddle around Rochdale with a great big steaming bowl of mushy black peas in the front of his bike. They were divine with vinegar.

Back in the 70's and 80's Rochdale used to have the nicest pie, peas and gravy you could find at a footy ground. The food in the away end was rank in most grounds you went to but I always looked forward to a visit to Spotland.

In response to the thread title - no, unless you drop the leading 's'.

But pot noodle; noooo ... But each to their own. After all, if everyone's down the aisle where the pot noodles are, then it leaves me with a free run at the caviar counter. On second thought - not sure they do pot noodles in Fortnum's.
