Ant & Dec's Saturday Takeaway

This show is essentially an almost total rip-off of Noel's Wrinkly old Ars*hole as was.

Only saving grace is thank god there's not that pink rubbery wazzock pratting about all over the place.

Can't stand Ant & Dec. The whole thing with making a fool out of a celebrity was passe 20 years ago. Good to see Saturday evening tv has moved on!

Have never seen Saturday Takeaway or whatever it's called but pre water shed Saturday night family shows are going to be a little contrived no matter what the format. However, I watch I'm a Celebrity with the Mrs and to be fair they are decent on that. When I was a student everyone my age used to watch SM:TV. Was very funny at the time and I think this is where their mainstream appeal originated. Well it certainly wasn't from Byker Grove or their singing. Not done too bad for themselves though and even though they're Geordies I don't mind them.

When someone on Question Time asked Michael Heseltine if he knew who Ant and Deck were he said "No, Should I?" Doesn't know what he's missing :)

To be honest I enjoy Saturday Night Takeaway. It's no Wonkey Donkey, but then again what is? (It's got to rhyme!!!!!) Ant and Dec are extremely good at what they do, providing live family entertainment on a Saturday evening.

Blimey, this is truly lowest common denominator dross of the highest order.

Essentially a blatant ripoff of Noel's Wrinkly old B*m Ho*e but even worse. It was dreadful when he did it centuries ago but the Geordie pixies have conjured up something so low-rent it beggars belief.

Turned over after 5 minutes as I was just about to sling a brick at the screen otherwise.

What else did you expect on a Saturday Night Audience Entertainment Show ? It's only been going 15 years and certainly been popular and nothing to be taken seriously.

That's Saturday night family viewing for you - been that way for as long as I can remember.

Anything on telly is always about what you want to see - clearly millions enjoy it

Why would you even put it on when you clearly know it's not to your taste ?

He didn't say millions didn't enjoy it.
It's his opinion Phil.

You see it as blooming good harmless entertainment (as with lots but of things)🙄
& some of think it's pants 👍🏻

So no change in opinion over 2 years!

If it's still going it must be a success to some.

For me the biggest problem I have with it is probably its shameless and blatant plagiarism from the format of the Edmonds show.

Undoubtly millions love the Daily Fail too and good luck to them.

I'm astounded it hasn't been consigned to the scrap heap and that 'the lads' pick up a gong for if every year.

But that's the beauty of the human condition - we all have an opinion. None of us is right or wrong.

Looking for positives then at least it doesn't have the pink rubber plonker.

Again the same as what you said two years ago - so why would you watch it again.

Why would ITV the show when it's watched by millions ? Prob earns them a lot of money and causes very little of any controversy

To be honest, they admitted from the start it's format was to pay homage to the succesful shows of the past, the fact it's now one of the biggest shows on ITV and has numerous awards must say it's a winning formula, so why change it?

- so why would you watch it again.

It came on directly after the rugby so thought I'd see if it had developed over the intervening two years.

Sadly (for me) it quickly became evident that it hadn't.

You may however rest easy in the knowledge that I won't be giving it any further benefit of the doubt.

Indeed. A winning formula, popular with the advertisers so good for ITV revenue. Ratings winner and award winning programme too so they are doing something right. They know what works (and worked in the past) and so just keep on doing it

I am very disappointed. I could take a lenient view, having played with you and enjoyed your company, but I really think you should be sanctioned for bringing this to our attention and admitting to having been watching it.
