playing in my first comp tomorrow and was wondering if i am allowed to use balls that i've drawn a line on that i use for alignment when putting?

yes but your not allowed to change the ball when on the dance floor with ball set up to aid alignment for putting. you got use the same ball all round the course.

:D What do you mean by that :D

You can't change a ball during a hole unless it's damaged but you can change to a new ball on every hole if you want to :D

you can change a ball during a round if it is damaged and providing your notify your playing partner / card marker. not sure you can change your ball evey hole, unless you declare to partner and they agree...

Of course you can change your ball every hole if you want whether you "partner" agrees or not, you have to complete the hole with the same ball is the on stipulation.

But the type/compression of ball should always be the same.

Wrong.
You can tee off with a "pebble" on a long par 4/5 to give you a bit of extra distance.
You can then swap to a nice "soft feel/plenty of spin" ball on the next hole if it is a delicate par 3 where you need a bit of munch.
Just let your playing partner know what you've done out of courtesy.
But he can't stop you or object.

;)
