Right guys after getting back into golf last tuesday and been playing alot ever since and also got a lesson last wednesday with my local coach just to get a few things sorted.

Before i went to the lesson i was either pulling or slicing my irons and woods etc. I have been playing on course alot and a bit of time on the range and still same problem. the odd shot is going correctly but the coach seen this while i was at the range with him. Now am banging my head thinking whats going on and should i continue and hope it comes together or go back to coach?

you views please guys

You simply have to get the swing looked at. It is no surprise that even tour pros go to their coaches on a regular basis especially when they are playing poorly. It is such a technical game and played from such an angle that it is impossible to see every nuance of your swing as you execute it.

In simple terms you can't always see what the problem is and without knowing you cannot make the correct adjustments. As a good player like yourself, you may have a feel for what is wrong but unless you get a pair of professional eyes to look at the swing you may be correcting the wrong bits

Almost every bad shot has been slice or pull for me after my lessons, but that's kind of what my pro's been trying to do (opposite actions to my old hook/push swing).

What I do is make sure I've given his drills a good effort, then correct my own path, then back for a lesson.

If you feel you've done what has been asked and can't fix yourself, you need to go back ASAP. If you KNOW your swing is different and are prepared to stubbornly fix your path, give it a few more sessions.

You need to get this sorted out yourself its ok been able to do it while you are with the coach but hes not going to be there on the course, you need to listen to him take it onboard then put it in to practice dont become dependent on him

am doing everything he changed in my setup.

What am saying is i was pulling and slicing before and during lesson and after. As i have been out the game so long he wanted to work on my setup 1st and then go from there. now i feel am striking the bal well enough i will give it till start of next week then will go back to him for another lesson.

slow down, you sound like me when i started two years ago, when i started i wanted results straight away, i wanted to be a good golfer overnight. Two years down the line a better golfer, but it takes a long time to get your swing where it should be.

If you've only had the single lesson then i doubt that it will turn you into Tiger overnight. Most new people to the game start with a block booking of lessons to get the basics right so i guess as a returnee to the game , it'll probably help to have a few yourself . It may take your pro a little whileto correct evrything

If you have mates that you play with and are better than you see if they can help you they will obviously see things in your swing that you cant.

I play with two mates with 7 and 5 H.Caps and having a high H,C myself they are a fountain of knowledge and i learn something different every time i play.

Keep at it. The thing to bear in mind is that it takes lots of dedication and time at the range to make any swing changes a permanent muscle memory. You need to put the work in once a lesson is finished to get the maximum benefit. It isn't all about going straight onto a course thinking you have got it fixed.

Freduk, sorry mate got to disagree about sorting it yourself. There are too many variables in a golf swing for you to know what is going wrong. That is why even Tiger Woods has a coach he goes to when he has problems. Its nothing to do with your coach not being there on the course

it's a bit soon to be quitting on lessons after one session.

could it be that what you were is getting in the way of what you are now? bite the bullet, accept that you need to build back and that it will take time.
