Another cooking question!

:D Absolutely Amanda, that's the way to do it. it's the very least they deserve.

ps, are you not getting into this a teensy bit early?

Stop messing about in the kitchen and get out on the golf course - you know you want to.

Exactly - and the reason my occasional purchase of ingredients go well out of date before I've used them up.

Although...thinking that the slow cooker is the way forward through winter so may even try a recipe or two. Who knows what else I might find in the spice/herb draw?!

Slow cooker is a must.

Ribs in BBQ sauce
Stews
Beef briskets
Chilli
Stovies
Pork Shoulder

So easy to do and you can let it cook whilst you play a round!

So slow cooker experts...brown meat before placing in slow cooker or not?! Seems to be 50-50 on recipes I've found on the net.

I normally brown the chicken only but not any other meat before using the slow cooker but friends just shoves it all in raw

You may prefer it smoked...

Brilliant - fish in a bird too!

Phil - not browning or doing any prep but just chucking it all in the slow cooker has a certain appeal :-)

I've tried both ways and found the 'just throw it all in' works best with diced beef.

My Thai Yellow Curry Chicken (w Potatoes and Carrots) has always been 'everything in together, as it coesr', even in a wok.

I seal the semi-joint of I use for the 'Sushi's' Recipe Beef I use occasionally (Sushi being the name of the Thai Restaurant and Bar I used to frequent in Tunbridge Wells when I worked there).

When I first moved from home and was seriously skint my 'stovies' comprised sliced spuds, sliced onion and a beef stock cube. Boil for 20mins. If I was feeling wealthy I'd add a few grilled sausages chopped into quarters. It's a hearty meal - but not perhaps one with which to win the heart of a fair maid. My now wife wasn't that impressed when I once dished it up for for our tea back then.
