annoyed that someone played an away day on my gui number

So, got a .1 back for last Sunday from an open day at a different course, however I wasn't there, I never played golf last Sunday, and certainly not in Donegal.
Was sitting in the club bar and a member of the group that had been on the away day joked with me about how I had played in his group Sunday past, this wad on Friday! I text the organiser of the group who told me they needed a number to use for a chap that is not a member any where and therefore would have been unable to play so he thought I wouldn't mind if they used mine, then told me its ok as the guy shot 106 but they nrd the card as injured so I'd not get point one back ( like this makes it ok). Well got .1 back, so spoke to handicap sec and he said nothing he can do about it as its on the comp, he said they should not have done it, and he'd have a word, but I still get the point 1. Gutted really and annoyed, working hard to get handicap down, ok its only .1 but its not my .1. And nowt I can do.

Yes you can. Speak to your handicap secretary. Them your GUI branch dude. If you want I can speak to someone on your behalf if you give me details if you want to see what can be done. (he is a GUI official)

Spoke to him this morning Chris, he can ignore the score but it keeps asking to be added, thanks for the offer too but I don't want to cause a scene at the golf club, I'm just really disappointed as some of the folks in the society are meant to be friends, and I only found out by mistake. ( frowny face)

I can understand the not wanting to cause a scene! The offer is still there can he not get it withdrawn for illness or the like. I would imagine they are ex friends for a while ;-)

I'm still kind of in shock that someone would do that, our secretary was furious that it happened so hopefully it should not happen again. I'm not even in there society and some of the society didn't go so y use my number not one of the group that wasn't there, still wrong but I could understand it more.

Over here there are lots of opens that to can play in and it is usually cheaper than a greenfee

I think the open was a cheaper way for to get a society day out, all the society are members at a golf club, the person who used my number was a guest for the society on the day I believe.

It's very difficult for me to cause a scene as an Englishman in northern Ireland its tough enough to try and fit in or get by. Golf clubs as I'm sure were all aware can be clicky which is a pain in the bottom.
Homer, in Ireland we all have GUI cards that get swiped in, like a credit card for each comp, but this can be bypassed if your number is known so they must have had my number, they are readily available in the clubhouse unfortunately.
Over all I'm just really disappointed, two fold as feel peed that they would use number and also that I have an undeserved .1

Hmmm, I see your dilemma now.

This kind of reminds me of football incident I had. i signed for a sunday team only to get a job that meant working most weekends so couldn't play. A few weeks into the season the manager turns up on my doorstep asking me to sign a form from the league as they'd played a ringer in my name and the knob got sent off - up until that point, in all my years of playing football I had never once even been booked.

Maybe a solution to this type of carry on would be if all players had to produce their GUI card at these opens and not just key in their number. I've seen plenty of examples where players and forgotten their card and the host club don't mind once they know their number.

I agree slicer, you really are meant to produce card but you know how it is, leaves the system upto far too much abuse.
