Yet again this season I sit watching my beloved Liverpool struggling to score goals. Lots of possession in the final third but no goals to show for it. If they could only have made the most of the possession they have had in the final third this season they could be up at the top. I have lost count of how many games now they should have got more points than they did.

Well at least January is here so a chance to get someone who can score goals. Andy Carroll looked like someone who does not know what to do. I still am waiting for him to show why we paid £35M for him. How long can the Liverpool management team keep making excuses for his lack of goal scoring?

in all fairness 1 up front is a crap formation. he gets slaughtered for the price tag but what would anyone else do with the sort of supply he gets?

We need to go more attacking, yes the midfield see's plenty of the ball but then we have no options unless someone takes a few players on or a gamble on the overlap.

Not good enough overall is my general assumption so far.

How long can Liverpool fans continue to back Kenny........he is part of the problem.

Deal of the century Ashley pulled off there, said at the time to my Mag friend that they had paid 30m over the odds for this donkey.

Henderson and Adam are too negative and Downing is lacking confidence and desperately needs a goal.

Need to play a full strength team against Oldham on Friday night and get some goals!!

I believe the term is "Couldn't hit a cows arse with a spade"

Saying that, with the service he gets, being a lone striker, I can't say in surprised!

Never mind. Its January again. Maybe King Kenny has another fortune to waste

Hold on a minute....does not get any supply? Against Newcastle Gerrard gave him 4 chances 2 of which should have been goals. one was lost due to a bad touch and the other hit the bar. Norwich match....clear header edge of the 6 yard box....sends it wide. just a couple of good chances amongst many he has had. His movement is not the best either. He spends a lot of time moaning because the players will not just pump long high balls into the box. We are not Stoke, we want to play football. Liverpool did alright when they had Torres playing like it. Chelsea did OK under the chosen one having Drogba on his own. Nothing wrong with the formation but you need a more mobile striker with a bit of class to play it.

Why is he the problem??

As for Carroll you can't expect him to score goals when our wide players can't beat the 1st defender with a cross.

Adam is slow and his £10m corners and freekicks are woeful.

Downing couldn't beat a egg never mind a man, useless.

Downing is just as bad!

Can never beat anyone, soon as he get's the ball he may run into to some space but soon as he is confronted by a defender he stops turns round and passes the ball backwards or sideways, fair enough he doesnt give the ball away much but he always looks for the easy way out.

He was exactly the same at boro.

We need Darren bent

Stop listening to the media, he's a bag of

Don't forget we sold a PROVEN WORLD CLASS STRIKER 12 months ago and bent/ Carroll couldn't lace his boots.

That's my gripe with him, he's played premier league football for 10 yrs now and he's still rubbish.

Fancy a straight swap, Torres for Carroll?

In a flash pal.

I know he hasn't set the world alight at Chelsea but he will come good providing they play to his strengths.

Torres has always played the lone striker role and there's not many strikers in world football who can do it successfully.

Carroll is being found out. He's not a great striker in my opinion. He may develop into a good one but not until h plays in a side where he can either set up chances for others with his aerial ability or can poach goals alongside a strike partner. Up front he's too isolated and easy to mark out of a game

I'll agree Stoke's football isn't pretty, but it's effective.

At the end of the day the table doesn't lie. Liverpool are above Stoke, no doubting that, but by 4 points.

Difference being goals conceded.

Liverpool home record: Scored 14 - Conceded 8
Stoke home record: Scored 14 - Conceded 11

Liverpool away record: Scored 10 - Conceded 10
Stoke away record: Scored 8 - Conceded 20

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/table/default.stm

So the difference, massiveley is goals conceded rather than goals scored.

Andy Carroll, £35M - 18 Games - 5 Goals

Peter Crouch, £10M - 18 Games - 8 Goals

................... Im just saying :smirk:

Are you for real Homer???

He's played top flight football for 12months, 20yrs old and has hardly played because Suarez has been superb.

Our slow midfield are making it easy for the defenders and leaving him isolated.
No support when e does hold the ball or tries to lay it off and not one decent cross tonight for a chance.

I know he's missed a couple the last 2 games but i put that down to confidence, if Liverpool had signed another johnny foreigner instead of him all the fleet street top brass would be complaining we're overlooking the finest English talent.
