Have an inkling the ultra organised Italians will retain their trophy. They are a good tournament team, slow starters, good defenders and have a lot of patience and experience.

Sounds like Capello's thinking behind the England squad.

BUt without the Good Tournament team, good defenders, patience and experience...... :D

So we're settled on

'slow starters'

Spain for me, just look the strongest side on paper and have some very inform players.

I think England lack 'stars' even though by caps, they are the most experienced side going to the finals!

I'm sorry, but I don't want England to win, simply because of the media. I am not a footy fan, but we still constantly hear about 1966.

wrong idea CliveW, just think,
if England win you won't hear about 1966 ever again (well hardly ever) (well almost hardly ever).

you'll hear a lot about 2010 though!

I'm a former football fan, although the bug is getting me again - and I totally agree.

Don't think there is any need to worry about it though.

Spain won't do it.

I think it's time for either Argentina to step up to the plate again or for Holland to win it.

I'm going for Van Persie or Robben from Holland or Diego Milito from Argentina. Look at their groups and you'll see that they should have no trouble scoring a few goals before the knock out stages begin.

Brazil for me I`m afraid.

Not anti-patriotic, but can`t see England having the bottle. Has to be Brazil; they qualified at a canter and this time they even have a good goalkeeper (best in the world - allegedly)

Spain, although they have a few injury problems.

Perhaps Argentina, a weak defense but the strike force is second to none. That includes England ;-)

I think the germans will win it. There not the best footballing side in the comp but as the italians showed last time you dont need to be a great team.

Spain have a chance though they always stumble when they have the favourites tag.
