My Dad got one in the Medal at his course on 13/05, all the beer mats in the clubhouse after the round where advertising the promotion too, when he got home and logged into the promotional website he noticed he missed the start by 2 days so didn't get one. He was gutted as was his biggest moment and then also realised he hadn't renewed his golf insurance so lost out on the bar bill being covered too

I don't understand this, the start date taken from their site states "Winners are eligible for holes-in-one recorded on or after Monday 15 April 2013 till 31st October 2013 and meeting the above conditions"

As such his HIO is covered if it happened on the 13th May.

Bummer, can't see why they didn't start it at an obvious start date of 1st April, we had our first medal of the season on the 6th April, I would have been miffed if I had got a HIO and not got a watch

We just have to replace a bottle of whiskey that is placed on the bar so no big bar bills although, I think this tradition is outdated IMO, I think everyone should buy you a drink for achieving it

That was from 2004. Apparently the rules changed in 2012 so amateur status is safe.
