I went to the range today for the 3rd time in a week and commiserated with the Pro as his course, like all in the area, was still closed. He then muttered the words I never wanted to hear " I believe that Lydd is open!" and worse than that - I even considered it for up to 10 seconds!

Have I completely lost it or is it just because my new bats are over a week old now and havn't been hit off grass, getting to me?

3rd time in a week? good lad! i'm assuming lydd isn't one of your favourite courses then??

Welcome to the forum!

Got it in one - Lydd was very high on "the worst goat tracks Iv'e ever played on" competition recently. Sadly it's about 10 miles from where I live and possibly the only "course?" currently open. Personally I think 6" of snow might improve it!

i'd be happy getting a game on any track just now. hopefully the "warmer" weather continues and we get a big thaw, dunno when my course will be open as part of it cant handle water well at all so it will be fairly fooked when the snow/ice melts away

Found out my local driving range is still open, so off there tomorrow to have a bash. I'll worry about playing once the snow clears. Can't wait to actually hit something. Roll on tomorrow.

Won't see anything out of the windscreen on the way there, but heck, I'll drive with my head out of the window if necessary.

Just had a email to say our course will be open Thursday and the course manager has pre booked our swindle tee slits for Thursday, better still a 27 hole texus scramble comp is on Sunday, great I'm gonna get to use my new Christmas mp10's

Having heard this numerous times on here, what is actually wrong with it?

Bad greens, boring or what?

Built by a farmer. Souless, lifeless and wide water ditches where you will lose your balls whatever shot you play, good or bad. I have played there 3 times and absolutely hated the place. I think Homer and Smiffy have done recent bits on here summing up the place more eloquently than I could but suffice to say, if it were the last golf course on earth I would opt for a game of underwater scrabble!

To be fair to the place the greens were in decent condition and a decent pace. It just has no atmosphere in the clubhouse, it looks rundown (apart from the new conservatory) and if there are only 7 players entered int he stableford on a Saturday morning it has to say something.

The course has no flow to it. Its flat and soulless and I wouldn't want to play it in the wind or rain. Blind drives with ponds that aren't indicated anywhere (cue lost ball) and poorly designed greens that are too small to take even a mid iron fired in. We had a good match but that was the company and not the course. Definitely my all time goat track

I was as well. Woke up yesterday to +6 deg, that was a 12 degree swing. Rained heavily this morning, snow has gone, got to the range today, myself and Dave Pelzs short game bible. Have a 12.30 tee time in Seapoint on Thursday, cant wait.
I love living on the North East coast of Ireland.
I hope the weather improves for you guys.
