All the gear golfers. Are you one?

unfortunately can't afford to get all the new gear. play with a set of ping G2 black spot, given to me, and use a ping A Blade putter again passed down

i do like to buy thr odd shirt now and again and find TK Maxx have olenty of Ashworth or Ping shirts on the racks.

obviously have bought my own shoes, a golf bag and plenty of balls, but otherwise it's all second hand gear.

I think the "all the gear, no idea" cliche has evolved into "always have to have the newest gear, still no idea"
Having some new gear is ok, old clubs get broken, sometimes vouchers are given as birthday pressies, etc.
But there are some guys out there that must have the latest gear regardless of the fact they still won't cure the garden gate swing they possess.

garden gate swing

I wish my swing was as consistent and always on the same plane like a garden gate!!!! :D

Totally hate the phrase. However I do play predominantly TM and so have matching TM gear (bag, umbrella, towel) as that is what I prefer. Its my disposable income so I'll buy what I want and sod if that upsets the cliche facists.

I also have a huge collection of golf shoes again through my own preference for wanting shoes to match my outfits. Again as long as I'm comfortable and think what I'm wearing looks smart I don't give a monkeys what anyone else thinks.

Next week i'll have a lot of new gear in my Grey Nike bag. The drivers a couple of years old as is the rescue, but otherwise it'll all be new this year.

But, my irons i've had since 2002 and my old putter too. My 3W is the only one i've ever paid for.

Clothes wise, i have a couple of pairs of Puma trousers and a few puma/addidas polo's and rain proof jackets. Plain white shoes - all quite boring really.

No GPS, i carry my bag, no laser.

I do always find it amusing when people are out with the check trousers, matching shoes and everything else and they are rubbish. I dont mind people having new equipment, its the clothes and trimmings that make me smile

I am an all the gear golfer and proud of it.

I know the exact yardage to each green.

My cart ensures I feel fresh at the end of each round.

My feet are comfortable.

When it rains, I only have to leave the comfort of my trolly cocoon for a few moments to play each shot.

I have so much confidence in my clubs that I know any errors (and there are plenty) are purely down to me.

Do I look like a tw*t when I play?...I don't give a damn what anyone thinks, because I play golf because I love the game, not because I want to look good.

Anyone stood worrying about my set up should be concentrating on their next shot (probably however they are too wet, tired, unsure about yardage, uncomfortable and with a question mark over their clubs).

Ferkin ell. Are you my twin?

;)

Well if i believe all the advertising hype about my current crop i have some of the most technologically advanced clubs on the market.....Although there still kinda in the honeymoon phase they do seem to be helping me.......
If you were th post this same question next year i hope my reply would be yes i do have all the gear but i have all the ideas as well.....Watch this space! :D ;)

Oooh no.

I do have decent gear, but it's no way top of the range.

I leave my golf stuff in the car, ready to play at short notice if time allows ( not often enough :( ). So it's all scrunched and creased.

I'm not the best at cleaning my clubs either.

I have the cheapest bag on the market, and hire a trolley when I want one.

I wouldn't want to look good on the first tee - people might expect me to play up to a decent standard.

Looking the way I do, people are surprised if I flukily hit one anywhere near the sweetspot.

But if I want to dres like a ***, that's my decision. It might put me under pressure to play well, but that's my problem, not your's. If you don't like it, then I'm 1 up before we start.

Despite all the alleged improved technology in golf clubs, I am told that the average h/cap for club golfers has barely changed for many, many years. I wonder why that is ??

A few months back I started to use again a set of Yonex irons that I bought 2nd hand about 14 years ago as they just "feel" better than my X14's that I bought 2nd hand about 7 years ago.

If I really believed that a new set of clubs would transform my game, then I might possibly consider getting some but I know that it's the wally wielding them that's the problem.

If you saw the way Bobmac creams his battered old irons, then you would wonder why anyone would want to buy new. I think that the only "newish" thing in his bag is one of those V-thingies and he probably didn't pay for that
