Hi all,

Thinking of heading up to this on Saturday and wondering how to make the best of it considering there is action on 3 different courses. I've read the information available online and now looking for advice from those who have been.

Has anyone decided to swap between courses half way through the day? How easy is it to park and access the courses or is it advisable to pick one course and stick with it?

At the moment my preference would be to spend the morning at Kingsbarns, then head to St Andrews in the afternoon.

I'd pick what players you want to follow or see and head to that track. Obviously the easiest to travel between would be St Andrews and Kingsbarns.

From my experience St Andrews is the best viewing as a spectator and it has the best town for exploring and having a change from the golf.

I'm up for the week for the Dunhill. We pick a course to go to each day based on the players and stick there. We have switched between course and it can be done just bare in mind the second course you will need to try find the group you want to watch out on the course. St Andrews and Kingsbarns are the best to switch between as they are the closest together, its about 20/25 mins between the two.

Parking is easy just next to the courses so its easy.

I'm watching on TV over here in the colonies. I love this event mainly because I've played all three courses. For any that are watching, I'm so impressed with Andy Murray. I was a fan when he was the top tennis player. Now he looks like he could compete on the DP Tour. Obviously, he won't do that but I hope we get to see him play again in some other events where amateurs and celebrities are allowed to play.

It is his goal but he is a 2 handicap so has a long way to go. Most top pros were around +5 when turning pro.

Appreciate this isn't necessary the latest, in light of the original post and the current weather impact!

Always go up every year to it: Take the Thursday off work and head up. Normally to Carnoustie as they put the big names there. Great event: Free entry, Free parking (Carnoustie it's next to the hotel: 30 seconds from the course. St Andrews it's on the Balgrove course that's a 2 min walk from the 15th Green. Kingsbarns next to driving range), and the Players and Ams are super relaxed and just a good vibe. Sometimes I head down to St Andrews in the PM depending on the names: about 30ish mins with good traffic. Definitely worth going if you can.

We used to do one day at Carnoustie, one day at Kingsbarns and the Sunday at St Andrews. Last time we stayed at the Old Course hotel on the Sunday night. The room price was really cheap as most people check-out on the Sunday morning, and you get to miss the traffic on the Sunday evening.

Only ever went to the dunhill once, it was the year Oli Wilson won. Just beat Rory.
It absolutely poured with rain every day I think.
Play got suspended on the Friday, spent all day and night on the guinness in the Jigger.
It was great.

The atmosphere in the town for the Dunhill is immense. We’ve drank next to the pro’s and the celebs in the Jigger, and ate in restaurants next to them. Listening to them is a treat.
