Serious charges but up to the courts now, no good condemning someone before a trial just because you dont agree with their politics.
my comments are nothing to do with His Politics, i fact i admire him as a politician a very shrewd operator and clever debater , but i have had the misfortune to deal with him for my job and in a golf context, thats what my comments are based on

Hugely disappointing if any of these allegations are true.

As someone who served as First Minister of Scotland, and was one of the great political leaders of the past few decades, it would be a complete disgrace to his office, country & party if even 1 of these allegations is true.

the problem with a lot of these cases is that allegations are made, allegations are denied and from a legal process, it's a complete stale mate. One word against another with no other witnesses or forensic evidence. In the end, things fizzle out and it may not even go to trial. But the accused is still tainted by the allegations and the accuser doesn't get the chance to state their case in court and let a jury decide.

I note that Salmond keeps using the phrase 'innocent of any criminality'.
You might make the assumption from this that he has acted unfaithfully to his wife and realises he will have to admit this in court.

Wasn't a targeted post, just a general observation on getting a fair hearing. Understand fully a lot of people don't like him, he's one of those marmite politicians, unlike someone such as Donald Dewar for example.

For someone who lives on the moral high ground that's a very hypocritical post.

What’s the problem ? I don’t believe he has been called guilty by anyone and the guy has a wife who prob feels very let down by her husband who has had Liasons legal or illegal with other females - is that not naughty then or you just looking to score points ?

The way his wife feels is none of your business. Calling him a naughty boy is indicating he has done something wrong which hasn't been proven. Hypocrite.

Oh dear - so it’s just looking to score points then. My opinion is legally or illegally he has gone behind his wife’s back with other ladies - that makes him naughty in my book - you can either agree or disagree that’s your choice but if you nothing to add to the subject but to have a go at me then off you trot, you are adding nothing

Thats one of the most pathetic posts I have seen on here. I'm trotting nowhere, stop digging.

Is it normal for someone to be bailed after being charged with such offences? Attempted rape seems an awfully serious charge for someone to be released on bail or is that standard practice in these type of cases?

Guess it depends on the flight risk of the person - they spoke about it on 5live and if it was “rape” and physical assault then bail is a lot harder to get

With no previous and his background it’d be unusual not to get bail. Steady job, address, public figure so no flight risk etc.

OK cheers, I had no idea. It just seemed some pretty serious charges to be getting bailed for. It might just be me, but I think that rape/attempted rape or murder/attempted murder etc should be treated the same as the intent is the same. Just because you've failed shouldn't detract from the intent. To be clear this isn't a comment on Salmond and what he is charged with, but a general comment on what I consider to be serious crimes.
