Alex McLeish

as someone from S of the border, I'd be inclined to say it doesn't matter who gets picked to be Scotland manager - you'll still have as much chance of winning anything as England do.... i.e. not very much

Absolutely, however it's not a particularly inspiring appointment to get the fans excited about going to watch them IMO.

Quite a sad indictment on the (lack of) good managers we are producing that we've gone back to McLeish. Sure he'll do a decent job right enough just doesn't really excite me. In a way I'm glad O'Neil knocked us back, not sure where he became the messiah from all of a sudden.

We don't want to win anything - just qualify for something!

Mcleish is a pretty uninspiring choice but probably a safe pair of hands. Our problems have long been down to a lack of decent players rather than the manager,

 He had a 70% win record, then left to manage Birmingham.:blah:

So clearly capable on an international stage. Another question to those that follow the Scottish game far closer than I do, is the current crop of players and emerging players in the U21 better than last time he was in charge. If so do you think he'll get the most from them

Makes no difference. Same old same old will be picked regardless.

Well I never - and neither will it appear in the Surrey Advertiser an august record of local Surrey matters. I suspect that the new stadium will not have a small orchard at one end. The old Cathkin Park did - on the 'outside' side of the 'East' terrace bank. Though as I would only have been 6 or 7 years old - and I was a wee smout - these trees might just have been bushes :)

Haven't they just rejigged the Euros so pretty much anyone with a pulse qualifies?

Still only 24 teams from 55 eligible will get to the actual tournament so let's face it Scotland most likely won't, no host countries auto qualifying this time at least but still I sense our collective Jock pulses fading fast come autumn 2019 or thereabouts.
