Altitude is a factor taken into account for Course Rating.
The difference between an altitude of <2000ft and 9000ft
Scratch drive 250/260 yards - 281/291 yards
Bogey drive 200/210 yards - 225/235 yards

Even although we all know that the bogey drive can be 260+

Middle of winter vs now is at least a club.

In the winter the ball is colder but also so am I, wrapped up in restrictive layers which inhibit power.

Then add the course conditions, boggy and sticky wet grass just don’t allow run!

Now playing in short sleeves with warm muscles, warm balls and dry running ground the club choice is affected.

Too much information right there. ;)

It can also be 140-
Incidentally, the USGA reckon that the average scratch distance is 254. Up from 250 10 years ago. But they haven't changed the manual because it virtually no effect on the final rating calculation. I read somewhere that the tour pro average has gone from 282 to 289.

Yeah I can imagine distances have increased but basing distance to hazards for certain categories is nonsense at best.

I think that any data previously quoted in this thread may be essentially null and void, as the those of us reading it must surely factor in the, some say mysterious while others say baffling, Forum Variation Equation (FVE) as illustrated below.

(actual yardage carried) ÷ (actual yardage desired-4.7%) x
18
where
18
represents the number you thought of = approximate forum distance claimable without fear of ridicule or mockery.

Ive never seen much change in my PW from about 15deg to 20 something, but Sat it was def flying 10 yards further, it was quite humid in those tree's with no wind and hot temps, thats the only reason i could think of. had a few laser readings of flags a 130/35 with the flags looking back so took PW to stay below the flag and all went right up to it and all stopped dead.??

Isn't that just the benefit of all the gym work you've been doing to get that beach ready body, guns on show

I noticed the same on Saturday morning as well with both my driver and my irons. The irons were all carry an extra 8-10 yards. I was hoping it was all that Superspeed Golf work finally paying off but it was more than likely the good weather.
