I'm considering purchasing the Aimpoint Express DVD (well, the online video package). Anyone used it?

I know they say you should also have a short lesson with an Aimpoint instructor as well as purchasing the DVD / online video, but for over the winter it might be good to learn. I'm horrible at reading greens. Then have a short lesson in the New Year.

Cheers.

Sorry to jump in on your post but does anyone know where I can go on an Aimpoint clinic in the south or where I can find my closest. Thanks.

Ye that was my start point. Nothing in the UK though. Thanks for your efforts.

I'd suggest going on Twitter and contacting Jamie Donaldson (not the tour Pro) and he'll advise you, or Mark Sweeny.

I went to Ross on Wye to do my course.

absolutely love it

OP - dont bother with the DVD IMO, just go do the course

Cool thanks.... Twitter... hmmm I shall see if I can find out how that works...

Have you seen gains in your putting as a result of the course?

DVD= £40, course= £100. I'm not 100% sold on Aimpoint yet, £100 close to Christmas is tough to justify.

Have you used the DVD?

No but how can you teach yourself what a 1% 2% 3% slope is without being shown by someone? its all a feel thing.

should add, i am massive advocate of aimpoint

That's the only thing I thought. I'm guessing - just guessing - with a little bit of practice and a few rounds putting it into practice, you'd start to gauge the % of the slopes. Plus, if the greens at one course are faster / slower than the next, surely the % of slope would result in a different "read"? I know that the original Aimpoint required you to know the stimp of the greens, not sure if express does?

I ask this to the forum, not just you specifically Mendie!!

Its fine,

your read does change depending on speed of greens (basically you change how far you have your hand from your face) but its something you should work out on practice green before the round,

you dont need to know the stimp.

I was with Jamie today he had a seminar to new students, fascinating to watch and there reactions, one is a qualified putter fitter and his disbelief was funny to see. The double breaker from 50ft was very funny.

My advice is do the class you'd learn more in a shorter period of time then you would with the Dvd.

You could fb Jamie search coach-Jamie Donaldson. He's based at Woburn and has held clinics there. A well known forumer on here might help you out! 😉
