Age for seniors

Thanks for your input. If they'd just intimated what you have I'd maybe have understood. Instead they just said it's because the government raised the retirement age. It's annoying because my playing partner is 64 and has paid the senior rate for the past 4 years but will now have to pay the regular green fee for another three. We have played there maybe 20 times a year for several years.
Bit of a Rock and a Hard place for you that one. Whatever you email them to request the reasoning, all you’ll get back is corporate speak due to the ownership model and company concerned. I wouldn’t even know if they have onsite course managers or secretaries as the one near where their offices my wife used to work didn’t have onsite management, that one was done from the nearby swimming pool 🤷🏼.

As a result they’ve got you over a barrel no real face to complain to, no sensitive ear to appeal to. It’s very much a put up or shut up scenario as they know int hat area you’re limited to their offering or a pretty expensive surrounding area of courses with likely joining fees. Though I don’t recall that company doing a full annual membership so is this now you have to pay an increased residual and increased green fees or is just a one off full years subscription.

Our “Seniors Membership Rate” comes in at age 65, it has been reviewed to fall in to line with retirement age, but have decided to stick atm with 65.

Our Seniors Section is from age 55.

Because at most clubs qualifying age is 60. I play with a guy who is 64 and until this year he paid seniors rate. Now he has to pay more per round for another 3 years. How is that fair when its widely acknowledged that 60 is generally the accepted age for a seniors rate?
How is it fair that vets/seniors get a reduced rate?
The vets at my club pay exactly the same as everyone else over 30.Perhaps your club should do that as well, then no-one will feel hard done by.

No seniors rate at my place but 55 is the age for seniors section and their competitions. Started getting emails from them this winter and annoyed as I don’t have a 9wood and a chipper 😂

A few courses near me do rates for seniors, so I've never thought it unusual. My nearest course is £110 a round for visitors, so shopping around for sensible rates is something I'm used to doing.

So, the OP is referring to "concessionary prices" starting, rather than eligibility to enter Senior Competitions? 😉

I don't know that many places that reduce rates for oldies, but a guy I know gets free life membership of his course, because he's been a member for over 50 years!
Correct. We have a few courses near us that do concessionary rates for over 60s.
