Played in a gale today abou 60mph winds. Can someone pleasetell me when you have address a putt on the green. Seem to recall the other week someone on here said once the club was behind the ball even if not gounded.

The relevant rule would be appreciated.

The addressing bit is when you ground the club prior to making a stroke. The definition of addressed is -
Addressing the Ball
A player has “addressed the ball’’ when he has taken his stance and has also grounded his club, except that in a hazard a player has addressed the ball when he has taken his stance.

So no mention of addressing if you havn't grounded your club.

To un-address it you need to mark it and replace it.

Bit of a spelling disaster earlier!

What I should have said was even if the club has not been grounded AND the club is behind the ball is this classed as addressing the ball. ie hovering the club behind the ball
