It's getting boring listening to Arsenal fans think the world is against them x

Exactly. Contact sport, unfortunate injury but absolutely no malice in the tackle.

I didn't think that there was anything wrong with the tackle.
I would appeal the sending off. Don't think Stoke will under the circumstances.
I don't think the referee had it in mind until he looked at the lads leg, then probably felt compelled to send him off.

I feel for the lad. He is young and should heal fairly rapidly and modern technology will ensure that he makes a full recovery.
I will be surprised if he doesn't make a comeback before Chriistmas.

Reading this thread I didn't realise that football had become a sport for pussies or at least that's the way some bitter Arsenal fans are portraying it as.....sh#t happens it's a contact sport.I hope for a good recovery but tough tackles will still be going in when he returns.

It was a badly timed tackle as opposed to Keane like career wrecker. I think Wenger is making a lot out of this "out to get us" crusade and personally think it is an unhappy coincidence. As for it shouldn't be happening in the premier league, I'm afraid that bad tackles are part and parcel of the game and that all the top leagues in Europe have their fair share ofsimilar incidents each season.

Teams target the opposition's weaknesses whatever it is. Teams also play to their strengths.

Arsenal can be knocked out of their stride by a physical approach ergo teams will seek to exploit that. Arsenal have also had physical teams in the past too.

Teams are always going to be physical against Arsenal because Arsenal are more skillful and have more technical ability than other teams.

This increases the risk of injuries as skillful players will always draw "clumsy" challenges from players less good than them.

Shawcross' tackle did not seem malicious just clumsy and it was punished by a red card as per the laws of the game.

Arsenal have lacked physicality for some time and Wenger has decided not to address this in his signings. All the really great teams have been able to look after themselves in the physical battle. Perhaps, Wenger should think about this.

It is a great shame that Ramsey has been injured and, of course, we all wish him a full and speedy recovery but vilifying Shawcross unfairly hardly engenders sympathy for Arsenal.

It is!! Just watch one of them when a blade of grass blowing in the wind brushes against their boot, down they go as if they had been shot by a sniper in the crowd. Now Moto GP those guys fall off motor bikes at 150mph and straight up checking to see if the engine is still running to get back in the race.

I don't even follow MotoGP, but you have to admire these guys.

The whole press / Sky campaign, 'Arsenal don't like it up em', fuels this approach. United and Chelsea don't get this rubbish.

Name another premiership player in the last 4 years who this has happened to.

Modrik, spurs.

Any one else?

Oh, and Shawcross, was he going for the ball? No. He missed it by miles, about 4" above it. And if he had hit it, at that pace, would he control it? No.

Clogger.

Yep, physical game. I wouldn't have it any other way, but, come on, 3 injuries of a similar nature, for one team, in what trurns out as 4 years.

Dodger, you're a Celtic fan, how many years is it since you had 3 broken legs? Given the ferocity of old firm games?

Tell me, I'm interested.

Yeah You got that right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like to see how they would cope with ICE Hockey.
After a bad tackle they get up and start punching each others lights out.

Bad tackles happen in contact sports. I watched the Arsenal/Stoke highlights this morning. Feel sorry for both players but would describe it as an unfortunate accident.

Ice hockey is a CONTACT sport. The guys are big, but the armour is bigger.

Different sport. Different expectations.

No comparison.

If you were playing golf, and I twatted you in the teeth with a 9i, if you complain, are you a pussy?

Imagine how an Arsenal/Celtic fan would be feeling.... love a good conspiracy theory me.....

On a side have seen a few guys braeking legs on the Gaelic park its never nice to see, so good luck to his recovery.

On a lighter side one of the funniset thinks I seen in a game I played is was a guy who bust his head open(split above eye), get it bandaged up and played on(proper Irish grit and determination to play on there).

The funny thing was about 20 minutes later he clashed again and split above his other eye..so he ended up getting bandaged up again to play on. He ended up with about 12 stiches and the new nickname of "stitch" Lots of blood and guts..

Your right sharkattack i follow Motogp and often these guy are riding carrying broken ribs etc and when they do fall off are straight up and trying to get back on regardless of injury.

I am not saying yesterday Ramsey could have got up because his injury was horrific but other footballers go down far to easily...

No,
Choices would be:
Dont stand or walk behind you when your taking your shot

Give you a bit of advice on improving your grip,

or my favourite Take out my driver beat the crap out of you, drag your lifeless body into the bushes and then carry on with my round :D :D :D

Cant believe the mugs falling for the Shawcross sob story. The guy has previous, just ask Jeffers, Ronaldo, Adebayor.
Yes he cried a few crocodile tears so what? He was just reacting to the horror that he just deliberately caused. A 3 week injury like the one he metered out to Adebayor off the ball would have perhaps been what he intended - who knows.

Shawcross drew his leg back as if he was going to kick the ball 100 metres. Why do that in the middle third of the pitch? Because he knew full well that he was looking to take man and ball. Pulis is a disgrace to the game, he nurtures players to kick people of the park because its a leveller for them. Scandalous.

Its not about any team, when you see a 19 year old boy on the ground with his leg in pieces its not right. For the record Adams, Keown, Bould, Dixon were hard but fair. Shawcross is just a thug.

Hideous injury, reminded me of when Henrik Larson broke his leg against Lyon (I think). The way it dangled is the stuff of nightmares and the reason why I don't play football any more (and also because of my flat feet ;))

He's a young kid, hopefully that coupled with amazing medical techniques will have him back playing within the year.

As an Arsenal fan I do not think Shawcross mean't to hurt Ramsey (that doesn't help Ramsey at all) and I think the injury got him sent off. IMHO Ramsey is one of the most talented young footballers in the world at the moment, and I hope he makes it back to fulfill his enormous promise, it is no coincidence that he is being talked about as a future replacement for Fabregas,

I do think the press is responsible for this incident though, every week you read how all you need to do is get physical with Arsenal.
