He's not wrong. When I look back, some of the best nights of my life were at raves with 8-10 thousand likeminded people, there for the joy of the dance. No trouble, no aggro just people all there unified by their love of hardcore. I will never have those experiences repeated in my lifetime.

We will never see anything like it again. And I say this having been to several "raves" (or versions of attempts at raves) over the past 10 years. And do you know why? Cameras, phones and social media. My experience of these events what that no one was there "in the moment", it was all about what can I record and upload to my "followers". It lacked spontaneity that events in the 90's had.

That probably makes me sound like a grumpy old git and so be it, but I went to these recent events in the hope that the spirit had survived with the music.

It was a special time indeed, discovering new music, enjoying it with other people on a big sound system. Personally, I preferred the small club atmosphere than a big rave, either way the energy was amazing.

Must admit I do use the phone to record a bit of video when I go to a gig today, it doesn’t distract from the moment for me - can jump with the phone in my hand 🙃

Haven’t been to a club / rave/ festival in years though. The main advantage over the new gen we have is that we got to experience all this music to emerge and develop, even more so before every kid with Rebirth started to produce and it became so saturated.

Every event was special, every new release was special… not the same anymore… …. and that’s OK

Another with a long 'intro'.
Speedy G wormhole...

This was around the media in the last week.

Kinda sad in some ways, but the world changes.
Maybe things in fields and abandoned warehouses are on the way back!
