On my way out the door and putting the clubs in the car I decided to put the seats down, trapped the tip of my finger in the mechanism and have a nice black nail on the way that couldn't hurt more if I set it on fire!

Did you ever have a last minute moment of stupidity resulting in a injury?

No ............... but I do like a ready made injury excuse for a poor round in windy conditions, playing with Smiffy !!!!

Chris

No, but am currently v worried as off shortly to see a podiatrist as have something wrong with my foot and the GP aint sure what it is. I have told him he is not cutting it and making it worse as I have way too much important golf to play this week! He best listen and listen hard or there'll be a fight !

Sorry to hear that James. But as Ethan said in the second bit. It hurts as it is done. But instant relief after. But we can't do everything right all the time now, can we.

I am a big wimp! All done though (hopefully)...quick flash of the scalpel and he exclaimed "look"...so I did..."pus" he grinned - yuk !!! Who knows why that built up but much like the pressure under a nail there was instant relief as it was ummm excavated ! He then reminded me what dodgy feet I have as the arch is ridiculously high - might investigate some custom made inserts as the turn onto the back foot during the swing isn't helping...

me & a mate was going golf in his car ,we parked up got clubs out the boot the boot was still open and i was minding my own business leaning on the side of the car were the boot closes getting balance while i put my shoe on ,not seeing my mate closing the boot i went to bend down and fasten my lase & moving my hand just in time the boot just trapped the end of my finger ,i nearly fainted just to think what would have happen if my fingers were left there,,,

If the black nail becomes tense and painful with a haematoma underneath, the cure is a heated paper clip (uncoiled) through the nail. Seriously.

Jeeeezus H Kerrrreyest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...I'd rather pass a kidney stone than push a paperclip through my nail!!! Ouchie!!!

About six years ago, I was going to do a bit of tree surgery at home. Not a big deal as I know what I am doing with chainsaws, ropes, harnesses etc. Anyway, I was about 4 feet off the ground, planning what to do and in what order when the branch I was holding decided to give way. I fell backwards into a flower bed and the first part that hit the deck was my right elbow. The problem was that it connected with the corner of a paving slab and this resulted in a full dislocation of my elbow. My elbow had moved about four inches out of it's socket and it looked horrendous.

The agony was absolutely unbelievable and as I tried to get up to get to my wife's car to be transported to A&E, I blacked out due to the excruciating pain. I came round as I was being loaded into an ambulance on our lawn having been pumped with morphine.

To cut a long story short, it took two years for me to be able to straighten my right arm fully after this and in the intervening period, I developed a snap hook as a direct result. If I hadn't changed my grip considerably, I would have stopped playing golf I think.

Actually, it is not painful. The hot end of the paper clip goes through the nail like a hot knife through butter and the relief when the haematoma reduces is usually very welcome. Every Casualty doctor in the country does this little procedure quite often.

I'll do it for you James

Hurt myself all the time at work. (roofer)

The worst feeling in the world is smashing your fingers with a claw hammer, did two fingers in one blow early one morning, the nail on one managed to stab right down to the bone, and i had to pull it out with my teeth, and having no bandages to hand i had to resort to toilet roll and gaffer tape!

Got a few nasty burns from bitumen and asphalt too, one on my ankle got infected and was hours away from serious trouble.

I poked my thumb through the crust of a stuffed crust pizza when taking it out of the oven.

Not pleasant, especially as the hot cheese stuck to my thumb!!
