A & E Overloading.

But shouldn't he just have been dealt with in about 30 seconds???? I don't see why these type of people sitting in A&E still take so long??

Totally agree about people who are drunk should be charged (a small fee) but not sure exactly how that would/could be implemented.

Exactly, he should be either dismissed by Triage or told that he would be charged £50 if he wanted non emergency treatment.
 
Sorry but you sound like you're bitter when you are a prime example of wasting the services. Doctors and ambulances for a back back!!

The actual problem here is neither A&E nor the patient. Had the lowest level service actually provided responsive service, then there would have been no need to escalate!

I had a similar issue with a lump in my neck. Couldn't get a 'standard' appointment for 10-14 days with GP. Not knowing what lump was, it required an 'emergency' one. Turned out to be glandular and GP was unhappy with it being categorised as 'Emergency'. She got a bollocking from me about the (lack of) service on my rare visits!
