I did it, I broke 80. The target I have been chasing for a couple of months. Very pleased with my self for playing steady golf and scrambling well.

I almost had a double free round too (one of my other targets) but had a daft 6 on an easy par 4. Trying to drive the green at 250.

My course is a par 69: Out 34 in 35

I went out in 37 (with that double)
I came in, in 41

Grand total of 78.

I bet my next round is high 90's :D

Always nice to break 80, and always nice to meet the targets you set yourself.
The 'no doubles' is arguably the harder challenge, so let's see how you get on with that one.
I always try to keep the dreaded 6 off the card, but with little sucess.
Well done. Any score in the 70's is a good score.

Great round Tony, my goal this year is to break 80 of the white tee's. I had an 82 on sat, only had two doubles and they cost me, but hey its only march. :D

Thanks guys.

Dodger, its my putting that keeps the figure up there but I know I will be cut next time I meet forummers.

I did actually suggest a voluntry cut for Goswick meet but I was declined! :D

I should have my last card in next wednesday so we shall see how that goes. My first was an 89 and that was only two weeks ago, just shows the difference in scores.

Great golf Tony, I dont think it will be long before you lose a few from your h/c as I think you will find you will come in below h/c quite regularly now, especially when your focus is now on what you have achieved. Great round Tony.

Thanks HNJ, your right. I think once you reach a land mark, it takes the pressure off completely knowing it is well within you. I hope thats right anyway, here's to better golf! :D

Chris, wouldnt you just be soo happy not to record a double in a round!

Congratulations, I have never done this myself as I am just not consistent enough during a round. I have though shot numerous rounds of low 80's recently so I too am hoping it comes this year.

Good luck replicating the form on a regular basis!

Well done Tony, great shooting that.
Also having played with you at Goswick it was clear you could shoot much lower,
Keep working hard and who knows what is possible

Well done Tony, get the handicap sorted out then start to work hard at getting it down. It's well worth the effort.

Ooof Sub 70 seems impossible. I was 3 over at the turn and I was thinking, it would take clean holes and 3 birdies just to get home in level par. I cant remember a round where I have shot 3 birdies!!! Plenty of opportunities at my gaff with 6 par 3's. But the 17th is 230 yards so a par is pretty good!

Good shooting. I'm sure I'll recognise you at the next forum meet - tall guy in the big sombrero!!!

Its actually a really good achievement especailly as the greens aren't at their best and the course is still playing close to full length in the cold air and damp conditions recently

Good going Tony. Have to say I saw it coming too. You should be doing that regularly now.

Now if only I could get a sub 80 round again I'd be happy! Playing like a twit at the mo'
