I had a great weekend - I managed to get a round in at Coombe Hill as a guest of a member there (long story) but ended up playing as a single.
It's a fantastic course and I had a brilliant day...except one thing. My round took 5:05hrs...and I was playing on my own!
The group in front of me weren't slow particularly; but in front of them were two groups of well-known members who had all the gear and no idea. One three occasions they refused to let us play through, even when we asked at the halfway hut!
It wasn't too much of a problem fortunately - there was no-one behind me so I just played a few balls each hole for practice, but it was actually getting dark by the time I finished (and I started at 12:45pm). But seriously - if a club has known members that are really that slow, shouldn't it do something about them?
Coombe Hill was lovely though - amazing practice facilities, really well looked-after course and generally a top day out. I even got my first ever birdie so am well happy!
