Ive never had a putting lesson, but what I do see is many players take the same back swing with a putter regardless of distance they want to hit the ball and decelerate into the ball, which often means they lose their aim/direction.
Decelerating is a bugger, when I'm missing it's usually left for the reason

Short back swing with good firm stroke
Look at the ball and concentrate on looking at where the ball was till you hear it drop, peaking will also cause pulls

@Crazyface have you tried cacky-handed? Switched last year and a bit of a game changer for me

Marl a line on the ball - line it up - I might use the putter shaft to check it's aimed correctly. Then just align the putter with the line on the ball, and confidently hit it - straight at the back of the hole.
Indeed…

I was good at missing this sort of length…then my pro checked me for strong left or right eye dominance. We discovered I have strong right eye dominance and I have to take that into account in all shorter putts else I have a (subconscious) tendency to push, and miss, them.

Both of these.

I too was missing far too many short putts, even when I felt like I had put a good stroke on the ball, I started to putt with a line on the ball and I can't remember the last time I missed a 'gimme' range putt. It took a little while to trust as even now when I have aligned the line with the hole (on a putt I have read to be straight) when I take my stance it appears that the line would miss left.

That ‘appears likely to miss left’ is what my head was saying and so I’d ‘correct’ and miss right. My solution was to move my stance slowly and very gradually back from the ball until my head was saying ‘straight’. There are plenty of YouTube vids out there showing this effect. Rather weird but there you go.

For those using conventional/standard grip, a little thing that helped my on all putts but particularly noticeable of shorter putts (I guess due to the expectation of making them all)
I slightly 'separate' my hands about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from standard, by moving right hand further down the putter grip, this has the effect of straightening my right arm and improving the quality of backstroke and making it straighter

When I say 'separate' my hands, they are still interlocked, just not as much as a full conventional grip

Also, a miss can be caused by "peeping" at the ball going in, particularly a tug left. I try and pick a dimple on the ball and try and make sure I wait to see grass before looking
For those "tug left" putts, I find putting the ball slightly off the toe and/or rotating the top hand grip slightly towards the hole helps.

Might try that although I am trying to keep it simple. I find having the hole reducer really helps and a spell of holing out with that on the hole does make it look massive after
