I can relate to what you say. I've seen some bad games of union, also seen some bad games of League.

However league just doesn't have the same sense of occasion, nothing in league compares to the excitement of the first Six Nations weekend

Yep. I agree with this statement 100%

I like league, but was bought up with Union and like was said above, nothing in League compares to the first weekend of the 6 Nations (or Rugby World Cup)

I just don't get league, just seems to be run into someone, stop, run into someone, stop. do that 6 times with the odd bit off flipping up and down like a dead fish when you get decked to try and get the tackler of, when they're going to anyway, and hope someone breaks the odd tackle.

Union seems more technical to me, and the sense of occassion is definitely better

I am looking forward to the game tonight, cant wait, I am a big Union fan, not like league as i think its kinder stupid you get tackled and then the tackler backs off, but with union you just get in there.

I think England have a good chance of wining this year.

It is possible to appreciate both, Union has taken on so much of what is good about league in the last 10 years. fitness, conditioning & professionalism. The two greatest players I've ever seen have been league players. Jason Robinson & Andrew Johns. However you could explain the rules of league to a five year old, no chance with union, (I'm not sure if that is good or bad)

Prediction for tonight..... England by 8 to kick start their World Cup push.

Played at a half decent level a few years ago. Union was a huge part of my life for 30 years or so.

A once great sport ruined by tampering with the laws to pander to the Southern hemisphere IMO

Watching the game tonight and it is frankly dire! I won't be bothering with any more of the games.

I think there are too many players on the field, therefore even if you get good quick ball, Which is unlikely, from the ruck nine times out of ten the ball carrier has still too many defenders to try to beat so it turns into ruck after ruck leading to the inevitable penalty.
If they reduced the numbers to 13 there would be a bit more room to move and this would lead to more tries and more excitement.Even the most staunch union fan must be dissapointed at watching a match where the score is made up of just penalty kicks.
Don't get me wrong, league has plenty of faults in the game also.

I found it pretty entertaining.
What was dire about it?

re the law changes to suit the southern hemishere, it's made it too hard to compete for the ball. The only way to get the ball back is by a mistake.

That said the game was ok, England should have won by more.
