3 wedges?

I like using my 3 iron also, if anything it is one of the more reliable clubs in the bag. Sometimes 3 iron and 9 iron is better than driver and a lob over a bunker etc.
JO, do you carry a hybrid of any type out of interest?

3-irons are becoming practically obsolete, aren't they?

I like my 3 iron for off the tee mostly JO, There are a few holes that I can hit 3 iron, 8 iron, where I need to play safe off the tee.

I carry 4 wedges, pw is 47 deg, then I have a 52, 56 and currently have a 58 in there too, I realise the gap is small, but the 58 is more versatile then my 60 for me.
pw is for 120, and the odd knock down from 100, 52 plays from 110 in, 56 is for bunker shots and 85 and in, and the 58 plays short bunker shots, and around the green if I want a bit more loft.

Apart from the trouble hitting the 60, the 56 would be a better choice as there seems to be quite a big gap between the 52 and 60. The 56 would fit nicely into the 4 degree spacing and give you more options in my humble opinion

Homer, that's exactly my thoughts,

The 58 would be too close to the 60, but I'd the 56 not going to hive ms the loft for bunkerlobs greenside.

My other issue is I cannot get on with high bounce angles my 60 & 52 are both around 6 bounce. As my 56 is also gonna end up my sand wedge and suggestions on bounce

PS i think it's funny that people take out a 3iron for a wedge, as if the 3 iron is any different to a 5, 6 or 7 iron in terms of how often they use it during a round.

Why is that funny? I hit the ball far enough that 90% of holes I play are Driver, wedge, with a bad drive that might well be driver, 8-iron or Driver, 6-iron. My 3 iron might make it out of the bag once in 10 rounds... but it's easier to grip down a 5-wood and sail a 200yarder than it is to catch a 3-iron perfik... (or better still, hit a hybrid if you have one).

OK - what iwas aluding to "funny"-wise, was that teh first club people are putting in and out of the bag to fit the extra wedge in, seems to be the 3iron, ie their longest iron, rather than any other iron.
Occurs to me that at the long end of your selectioj of clubs, taking out the longest reduces your options much more, than taking out say a 6 iron, when you still have a 5 and 7 in teh bag.

Of course, if you dont like your 3 iron, its perfectly fair to leave it out, but as seen by the various posts, many people do use teh 3i a lot.

I hated my old 3i and on my new set my 5i was long enough for me to drop my 4i
